It ABSOLUTELY was hampered. Anyone saying otherwise is extremely biased IMHO. Now that Warner can concentrate on BD only releases, we will see lossless more often and way higher bitrate, which leads to less banding (very prevalent in warner HD movies) and sharper picture. Finest example is Shoot Em Up. That thing is sharp as a tack, full 7.1 lossless audio. It blows away any of the previous warner releases and any of the previous New Line releases out of the water. It is a BD Specific encode from Warner/New Line.

The differences even between custom-encoded discs for each format varied from practically non-existent to almost-distinguishable on a paused screenshot. The only difference for almost every title is the numbers on the PS3 bitrate gauge. :rolleyes:

Man some of you guys just live to bash pro-b. There are some posters who have said more offensive things but don't take half the abuse pro-b takes.

Mods please do something about this because ever since the WB announcement, it seems like BD supporters are being bullied by hd supporters left and right with little to no provocation.

What kills me is that "even" is somehow lacking in the minds of the BD diehards. How is saying the BD and HD DVD are the same a knock on the BD? This is why/how neutral people are shuffled off as "fanboys" and our opinions minimized.

Tony you are a good guy, but this is utter poppycock. Not only is it untrue, but it's a mischaracterization of the facts.

It it not being "bullied" to insist that when someone makes a declaration statement of fact, it either be well-accepted or to provide proof of such. These types of statements are rarely presented as OPINIONS, in which case they would require no support whatsoever.

When someone makes a false statement of fact, they deserved to be called out on it. It's not bullying. It's ensuring that people are acting responsibly and making proper characterizations of their comments.

Josh, I wasn't talking about any specific post today but just in general. It seems like HD Talk section has taken an aggressive turn for the worse. It seems like hd-dvd supporters are venting and are taking their aggression out on BD supporters in this forum.
I've seen on more than one occasion where 3 or 4 guys gang up on one poster and just continue to harrass him due to encodes, BD profiles, or that someone is immature because they own a PS3.
BD supporters are in the minority here to begin with so is it too much to ask to stop with the namecalling and stereotyping.

In think that poster was saying there are more respectable ways to "call people out" than posting things like "FUD like this that turns people off of your posts."

From the moment Warner Bros. made their announcement there were plenty of Blu-ray folks flagrantly baiting the HD DVD supporters. Surely it's understandable that some people are going to be a bit touchy now, isn't it? Neither side has been very gracious and this back-and-forth "you guys started it" crap needs to stop.

Although I have to admit that I can only view that members posts when qouted (since I have them on ignore), but from what I have been able to see as well as my long time here in the HD subforum, that member continues to give false information and to state as fact what are better characterized as opinions.

I think most of it comes from the frustration of continually having to respond to such types of comments. I just put it on ignore, because honestly, it's a road that only leads to suspension. But I still maintain that it's not bullying to call someone out on false information, and its necessary to do so that the members of this group who don't know any better don't walk away with bad information to make an ill-informed choice.

This I can agree with. Fox needs to step their game up and use AVC encodes for all their releases.

I'm Blu only and I still think the Blu "fanboys" have always been overly annoying (and I agree that it probably is directly related to it being tied to the PS3).. the Warner announcement has really amplified that though. Thankfully it's mostly coming from the same five posters which can easily be put on ignore. It's just pretty sad that people are so concerned with a fucking format itself over what's on the discs (movies).

Coincidentally, Pro-B came back when the warner announcement was made.

And I agree, a lot of people have been acting like children since the WB news, but it's almost been worse from the Blu backers with the abundance of "I TOLD YOU SO!", "WE WERE RIGHT!" and just general rub-it-in-your-face posts. Actually a majority of the "war" has been ridiculously childish.

Old transfers on BD25's that should've been scrapped, but will eventually be double-dipped. I do believe that the newer catalog transfers are all AVC & on BD50's ie. Man On Fire, which is just tremendous.

I have yet to see a "I told you so" or a "we were right" post from a BD supporter here. The reason probably being for fear of backlash from the majority of hd-dvd supporters here.

That's a slight overstatement. About this time last year, we had several really annoying HD DVD supporters spewing the same kind of crap that we're getting from Blu-ray supporter today. We had a lot more problems with HD DVD supporters then than with Blu-ray supporters. That is, until we banned some and gave long suspensions to some. We really don't want to have to do that again.

On an interesting note, in early 2007, many people were adamant that the moderators were anti HD DVD (some people labeled me a Sony Boy in one of the e-mails) because of all the mod actions taken against HD DVD supporters. And now, many accuse us (me) of being biased towards HD DVD. Funny how problem members make moderators look a certain way.

Mostly because (1) we deleted dozens of those posts and (2) many of those posts were phrased in a way to disguise that message, which is actually more annoying.

annoying fanboys are annoying fanboys no matter what side they're on... The warner announcement just dialed it up a notch for both sides... I'd say you know who you are, but that's the problem with fanboys, they honestly don't think they are fanboys...
