Blu-ray.com visited the THX booth at CES. Here's an interesting snippet from their report:
"Another interesting tidbit of information is about the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. As we all know, Paramount's deal does not cover Steven Spielberg films, and so Indy 4 is being prepped for Blu-ray Disc for release sometime late this year. Apparently, Paramount is reluctant to pony up the additional cost for the disc to be certified, so it may take George Lucas to personally step in and make it happen. Be sure to let Paramount know we want this!"

I'm not sure if this has been covered, and I didn't want to start a new thread, but whats up with the lack of Unrated Blu-rays?
I was in moviestop yesterday looking around, and saw the R rated versions of Punisher, Con-Air, of course Live Free Die Hard, and Pg-13 of Ultraviolet. At least Robocop made it

The obvious answer to your question is the inevitable double dip.
Live Free or Die Hard Unrated seems like a lock on BD.
Not sure why Fox couldn't put the Unrated Mr. & Mrs. Smith out at leats seamless branched like they did with AvP.

I'm getting everything I want from my first gen players.
He added that early Blu-ray owners can continue to do everything they could in the beginning: watch movies in high-definition.

That bolded part seems a little inaccurate.
It's not the film that need the extra hardware to be played - it's the Java stuff. Of course if you can't even get through the stupid menu to get to the film, then yes, that's not good.
I still like using my BDP-S1 as I've had it over a year and have gotten quite used to it.
I'm going to try out 3:10 To Yuma, War and Sunshine (which I believe are all 1.1 titles) on the BDP-S1 tonight to see how it acts.
Worst case scenario, I'll fall back to my PS3 for those titles. I still prefer my S1 though, monolith that it is.

Representatives at the Blu-ray booth at CES told BetaNews that the PlayStation 3 is currently the only player they would recommend, due to upcoming changes to the platform. But Pioneer, Samsung, Panasonic and Sony have all been selling standalone Blu-ray players to customers.
Plus how do the other CE companies feel like being shit on?

I don't know enough about BD-Live to say. Seems to me the speed issue has to be coming from some kind of hardware bottleneck, whether that's onboard memory or processing power.
If BD-Live requires more memory or processing power than 1.1, then I guess it may handle the Java stuff better.
I've also got my eye on the BD50, as I may get tired of waiting for DTS-HD on the PS3.

Everyone who took an interest in BD and HD-DVD knew from the begining that BD rushed out the door because of HD-DVD. We can't honestly act surprised about it. Sony was going as fast as they could with the PS3 because of the 360 and Wii coming out as well.
I agree that it is a shitty thing to say, but at least he spoke the truth. I think it is stupid to blame the competition for your own shortcomings, because in the end, they still screwed their own, but we all knew it.
