42. Wait -- that was the answer to something else entirely . . .:) Hmm . . . "the world may never know!" |

I think any talk about sales for either side needs to include all three factors:
Capable Players sold Software units sold Software units sold per capable player sold. All three numbers are equally important. The day that BD finally overtakes HD DVD in software units sold per capable player sold we will see every Sony fanboy THEN proclaim its importance, as they did with the first two numbers. Until a format holds all three numbers, there really is no "winner." PS3 fanboys can't say it is reasonable to count the PS3 numbers and not count attach rate. The two are inseparable. |
Title Announcements at High-Def 2.0 Some new information as to high-def title plans for 2008 - all Blu-ray due to the other camp taking a pass - was offered at the event as well, during a studio panel late in the day. First, Sony revealed that Kevin Smith's Dogma is due to arrive on Blu-ray on 2/12, with Run Lola Run following on 2/19. In addition to the release of Resident Evil: Extinction on 1/1, Sony will street a Resident Evil: The High-Definition Trilogy set on Blu-ray the same day. The Guns of Navarone and A Passage to India are apparently on the way in early 2008, with Bridge on the River Kwai and Lawrence of Arabia expected to follow later in the year. Sony also hinted that they're going to experiment with more advanced BD-Java features in 2008. Further down the line, Disney, Fox, Sony and Lionsgate all confirmed that they're going to be expanding their Blu-ray release slate in 2008. Fox revealed that new theatrical titles like Juno, Hitman, Horton Hears a Who and Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium will all be released, as well as many new catalog titles. Lionsgate expects to deliver Saw IV in January, while Disney confirmed that Finding Nemo and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe will both feature PiP video. |
Aside from Lawrence of Arabia and Bridge on the River Kwai (both of which we already knew were on their way), the only other title in there that makes me happy is Finding Nemo (my all-time favorite Pixar movie).
|
Chronicles of Narnia and Lawrence of Arabia will be huge for 08.
|
I have no idea what "High-Def 2.0" is, but I can't wait for Lawrence of Arabia and Finding Nemo, even if they likely won't be out for another year . I'm surprised Fox didn't announce another 100 titles with dates.
|
Nemo is going to be brilliant in HD! Can't wait.
|
Run Lola Run is mine...never bought the SD. Get on Leon pronto Sony!
And Dogma in HD? Three words: 1080p Shit Demon. That is all. |
Can't wait for Finding Nemo.
Really wish Sony was working on getting Leon out instead of Dogma, well I'd take any Sony title over Dogma. |

I disagree. The third number is a direct function of the first two. If you think studios are not looking at how many discs are sold for each player that is sold, then you are fooling yourself. In a lot of ways, this number can be more important that total units sold.
If we agree to count any unit capable of playing a format into the total installed userbase, which I think is the only reasonable way to count this number, then the number of media units sold per capable player becomes an indispensable number, since the number of capable and utilized decks is such a widely disputed number. |

Very exicted about Lawrence of Arabia, Bridge on the River Kwai, and Finding Nemo.
I'd like to see these in 2008: Fox: Alien, Aliens, Xmen 1 and 2, all Bonds, Last of the Mohicans, Patton, Platoon, The Poseidon Adventure, PREDATOR, remaining Rocky films, Young Frankenstein. Sony: We should be seeing The DaVinici Code in '08. Air Force One, Bad Boys I & II, Christine, Glory (this was planned for '07), The Fog, Men in Black, The Natural, Taxi Driver. I would also like to see Cabin Fever from LionsGate. And a better version of T2. I hope Disney has plans for Armageddon next year. We in the US have yet to receive a proper widescreen presentation on home video. With the 10th Anniversary coming up, I'd sure like to see a BD50 with AVC and PCM audio. And all the extras from the Criterion release. Tombstone would be another release I'd love to see in '08. also from Disney: The Others, Pulp Fiction, The Sixth Sense, Signs, Dick Tracy. |

Armageddon / Will Patton = Sale! |
I thought all the Bond films went to Sony.
I'd love to own 'Adventures of Baron Munchausen' since I just watched it recently on Mojo HD. Fox NEEDS to start releasing their musicals. |

For me, I am more than willing to forgive Fox if they can give us Angel in hi-def!
