Define "soon." For all we know, they may decide to release Nemo along with Wall-E in November (like they did with Cars/Ratatouille) and that's it.

As for Toy Story, well, you know how they love tie-ins with sequels.

PixyJunket 12-06-07 02:12 PM

Finding Nemo was dated for Fall 2008 along with Tinker Bell and Sleeping Beauty. :(

I would do terrible things to get Roger Rabbit on Blu-ray. C'mon, 20th Anniversary next year, goddammit!

Comcast had an HD transfer "On Demand" for free a while back. I haven't checked lately to see if it's still offered.

What is the difference between the "nielsens" and the "rankings"?

Gizmo 12-06-07 10:55 PM

Typo, sorry.

Mr. Cinema 12-07-07 06:00 AM

Batman Begins usually is in the top 10. Looks like it's vanished. also, The Departed is listed at #7 and #9 for HD DVD. I'm glad to see Knocked Up at #6.

not sure if that's an error or if one is the combo and the other is the non-combo.

I had the same thought, but the correction was posted elsewhere -> 300 was #9.

Gizmo, why did you put "62:38" in your thread?

62:38 is the since inception ratio.

probably the % ratio between the 2 formats

then what's the 58:42? I'll try and take your response as serious.

Thanks tonymontana313, I hadn't seen the "since inception" # reported anywhere else.

I meant market share %

Warner Brothers to go Blu ray exclusive? That's the rumour according to the Michael Burns, vice-chairman of Lionsgate...

Business Week article

"The rumor is that Warner is coming aboard soon," says Michael Burns, vice-chairman of studio Lionsgate (LGF), which makes its movies available on the Sony-backed format. "That will make it awfully tough for HD DVD to stay in this game." (Sony declined to comment, and Toshiba only would say it is "in regular contact with the studios.")

Sony exec confirms PS3 will get Blu-ray Profile 1.1 this month

Reg Hardware article

Sony's PlayStation 3 will this month be updated to allow it to support Blu-ray Disc Profile 1.1 - the version of the optical disc spec that enables picture-in-picture.

The claim was made this week by senior Sony executive Don Eklund, who oversees Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's technology policy, including Blu-ray Disc support.

This is good news. Now we just need DTS HD Master Audio decoding.

dsa_shea 12-07-07 03:47 PM

One guy posted in the responses to that article says he has 6 Blu-Ray players in house. WTF? Why?

Feel free to look through the authors other articles on the HD DVD/Blu-ray format war...

"Is this the best Toshiba could come up with to keep their HD DVD next-generation high-definition DVD standard alive?"

"Movie studios seem to be running away from HD DVD faster than the speed of light as the competing Blu-ray technology."

"But even with the rival Blu-ray format now apparently looking at HD DVD in its rearview mirror..."

"Toshiba's HD DVD format, is desperately looking for a lifeline after a series of major disappointments."
Biased at all?
I would take this rumor with a giant piece of salt. This coming from an executive who is 100% backing Blu-ray. What if Paramount said the same thing tomorrow regarding Warner going to HD DVD? Would that mean anything or just be dismissed?
