Once you get over the fact that the script was written by teenagers, you can sit back and enjoy the kickass HD experience

The 1080p PQ and especially the AQ was outstanding - complete agreement to all the on-line reviews!

AQ = 5 Stars

@ -10 dBc below REF Level, the discrete seamless surround and bombastic dynamic floor, couch, wall, air and pant-leg moving LFE was far superior vs. our DLP Cinema Theater experience. All 20 Hz to 20kHz Full Cinema Digital Soundtrack was present and the high's was not lacking! The balance all-around was very impressive and the dialog was easily heard even during the action sequences. There was quite a few times I felt that I was in the middle of the action and reacted accordingly, i.e. looked around, ... ducked, ... etc.!

PQ = 5 Stars
What a 1080p feast!!! Everything is sharper, colors more dynamic, 3D like scenes just popped off the screen vs. our DLP Cinema Theater experience. HD DVD rocks!!! :rocks:

So, I took a few actual live-1080p DLP-screen captures ...

LAST NOTE: WEB Enabled "Intelligence Mode" w/GPS tracking

When you get time, you've got to watch the "INTELLIGENCE MODE" w/GPS Tracking. The text** & GPS Tracking adds more fictional behind-the-scene INFO and when a BOT is pertinent to the scenes, the STRENGTH Meter comes ON! As long as the BOT is part of that Scene, the STRENGTH Meter stays ON whether you see him or not!!! Pretty cool to watch how much damage they can take and in some cases, until they are terminated!

**INTERESTING FICTIONAL MOVIE STORY BASED INFO REVEALED:
1. About Sam (Shia LaBeouf) & chores

2. Sam's missed opportunities w/Mikaela Banes (Megan Fox)

3. Interesting INTEL on each of the Decepticons and Autobots while on screen or off (some funny facts)
.... a) STRENGTH Meter STATUS ON
........ 1) ICON Either Represents the BOT's Disguise (Auto, Jet, etc.) or Natural Alien Cybertron State

5. Phone Customer Service (India) Rep. - why he's working there!

6. Maggie Madsen (Rachel Taylor) background - nice INFO to know!

7. Maggie & Glen Whitmann (Anthony Anderson) INFO - why she knew him

8. Mikaela Banes (Megan Fox) connection with the "FIRST SEVEN" - cool INFO

9. How Sam explains why he now owns a $500,000 Camaro!!!

.... etc., ... tidbit's of funny and great Fictional Movie Story Based trivia & INFO!

Also, don't forget to look for the 5 easter eggs on HD DVD disc 2!!!

That's it for here.

Great screen captures Phil! I really need to upgrade my 65" Toshiba RPTV (65H80) sooner than later.

I hope to actually partake in these features on the Transformers HD-DVD once I obtain a copy that plays through without skipping/stuttering...off to Costco I go for my third attempt...

Damn, Rachael Taylor is hot. I don't know what's harder to believe robots coming down from outer space or a girl like her being a genius computer hacker.

Just tried out both discs last night and were fine. Man the movie looks and sounds really good. I need to listen to it again, but the overall mix could be my favorite out of any movie I own right now. The room was alive during fight scenes.

I have now tried three different Transformers hd-dvd's in my A1, this one came from Costco. At least 4 chapters were stuttering before I decided to turn it off again. Any ideas? I suppose I could clean the disc as well as the lens in the hd player.

Has anybody used compressed air (like one uses for a PC) to blow out any dust that may have gotten inside of their dvd player? Just a thought, but I'm perplexed why this hd title is causing more difficulty than the other 100+ hd titles I own.

Same here (and I don't even have that great a sound system).

My only complaint is that the gunfire should have been a tad louder during the firefights. I'm not complaining about bass, mind you. I point that out because over at AVS there's alot of complaints that the gunfire didn't sound bassy (and, honestly, it shouldn't). I'm talking about the actual dB level of the gunfire. Just watch the behind the scenes footage of the base attack and the live audio shows how loud those weapons can be.

I only have an xbox hd-dvd drive. the only problem I noticed with my costco copy is that there's a slight skip when Sam tossing things in this room looking for the glasses. I assumed it was there the layer break is. Can anyone confirm this?

the rest is fine, except the xbox 360 gives me a notice that secondary features are not avaliable. I didn't care for that.

I don't think they the necessary made her character out to be a hacker. Just a really smart girl. Unless I'm mistaken she never really said or did anything that made her a hacker. Didn't they name all those people signal analyst?

I honestly think she should've been the one Sam went afterrather than Megan Fox's character. Plays into the whole deal with Carly seeing as how in the cartoons she was portrayed as being way smarter than him. Though its hard for him to pass up a hot girl like Megan Fox.

The biggest problem with Rachel Taylor is that she's literally useless as a character. She's there for eye candy and nothing more.

Wow, this was a bad film, even in HD and even with two ridiculously hot females. I almost turned it off after the robots were trying to hide in the wide open in front of Sam's house, but wanted to stay around for the giant robot battles.

Take away the special effects and this movie was horrible. Great transfer though.

Yes, it was full of cheese, but your supposed to just sit back, turn off your brain and enjoy it.

As for me, I enjoyed it for what it was. I think it was a great summer movie!

I agree. I had low expectations for this film, but I thought it was good for what it was. The robots hiding was a bit schlocky, but the way people were talking about the plot, I expected far worse. The "robots in disguise" premise, if thought of seriously, is ridiculous itself. I think doing this movie without tongue-in-cheek and trying to take it too seriously would have been a really bad disaster.

This HD DVD looked incredible, and the sound was beyond words.

I guess I couldn't because it was just so stupid. I mean, the scene where Dhumel jumps off the motorcycle and slides about a 1/2 mile down the street shooting at Megatron is beyond ridiculous. The robots as tall as buildings that NO ONE NOTICES sneaking around. The poor attempts at humor.

I don't dislike Bay. But this movie failed in ways that Armageddon succeeded, to me at least.

It's in my sell pile now, I can't imagine watching this again.

^ Come on though, this is a movie about robots that turn into cars and so on. The PREMISE is stupid. This is a movie about kid's toys.

So, anyone watching it needs to realize that its not gonna be that serious
and real-life like.

What? Re-read my post. My complaints have nothing to do about the ROBOTS. It has to do with the completely unbelievable events that occur in the movie. Clearly, I'm watching Transformers because I like big robots doing cool things. It's the rest of the nonsense that I thought was ridiculous.

This is exactly how I felt coming out of the theater.

I decided to pick it up anyway since it is the new king of HD DVD. I did preview some scenes and I didn't seem to dislike it as much, so my hope is that my expectations being gone will help me enjoy it more on my 2nd viewing.

If not, to the sell pile like yours.
