Alot of those little bits of footage were previously on the Sector Seven website before the film came out.

This is one of the most stunning things I've seen. Definitely the new demo disc for my HT.

Opened my set, and was greeted by two copies of Disc 2, and no Disc 1.
Hurray special features!

The movie as a whole isn't a shining example for an HD transfer, but that's only because there are parts of the film that were intentionally grainy. There are certainly many places in the movie that DO serve as reference quality material. King Kong still holds one of the best pictures, and also, Planet Earth does some great justice but again, that's also only many parts. There's some grain to be seen during darker scenes.

Well, this has to be the glitchiest HD title that I have purchased to date. There was stuttering in at least five chapters such that it was near impossible to understand the dialogue. I kept apologizing to the three others watching the movie with me who were complaining as I said to myself "maybe I should have bought the SD version instead"

While this movie is pure popcorn fun (I also saw it at the theatre), I'm getting real tired of playback issues with HD-DVD's in general. Back to Best Buy I go for an exchange. Considering the $29.99 price, one should expect glitch free playback.

HD-A1 with firmware version 2.3

I have had the once in ahwhile stutter on other hd-dvd titles (I have just over 100 hd-dvd's), but this was the worst to date by far. Hopefully, this was an isolated incident.

I have the same model and firmware and everything went smoothly. Hopefully it's a bad disc.

I paid special attention to the main feature, given the trouble disk 2 gave me and it played fine on my xbox 360 add on.

Same here. My A1 has had problems with Heroes and even The Last Starfighter (what??) but zero issues with Transformers.

Well, I returned the disc to Best Buy, but of course they were sold out. So, they refunded my money and I purchased one at Target. This is my second attempt and it is stuttering again multiple times in chapter 5.

What gives? I'm very tempted to simply purchase the SD 2 disc. As I said in another thread, this unreliability is making it very hard to justify purchasing hd-dvd's, especially when they cost $29.

I'm going to clean the HD-A1 lens and try again...

UPDATE:
I cleaned the HD-A1 lens and the hd-dvd (though the disc was pretty clean) and this time it skipped/stuttered in chapters 5, 10, 11 and 13. At that point I turned it off. This one goes back to Target tomorrow. I may try Costco next, but the stuttering problem of this frequency is unacceptable. My family is now watching Hannibal (SD) and that is working fine, so I don't think it is a problem with the A1.

Paramount says first-week sales numbers for its HD DVD release of 'Transformers' top those of any other high-def disc released on either next gen format to date.

According to a just-issued press release from Paramount, the HD DVD edition of 'Transformers' sold over 100,000 units in its first day of release, and went on to sell an additional 90,000 units over next six days, making it the fastest and best-selling week one release on either high definition format, as well as the best selling HD DVD ever.

The standard-def version of 'Transformers' also made news, moving over 8.3 million units in its first week, and 4.5 million copies on day one, a new record for the year 2007.

The performance of the 'Transformers' DVD and HD DVD has demonstrated the phenomenal success of this global franchise," said Kelley Avery, president, Worldwide Home Entertainment, Paramount Pictures. “We’re happy to be kicking off the fourth quarter with a title that clearly shows home entertainment releases are still an event that drives consumers into stores—which is a win for both content providers and retailers.”

Paramount's HD DVD release of 'Transformers' last week came less than two months after the studio abruptly announced it would drop support of the Blu-ray format, and would release its next-gen titles on HD DVD exclusively. The studio reportedly received $150 million in exchange for its exclusivity.

When I returned my third set today the girl behind the counter insisted on opening and testing the disk before accepting my return. They went through 4 sets--all of them had nonworking disk 2's.

IF you decided to dump the format please feel free to PM me with what you have for trade or for sale

If anything - Good luck with the cleaning.

I work at Radio Shack and since it was me and two other associates who didn't give a shit about adhering to every rule I brought in my new A3 to demo Transformers on one of our TV's (a 32" LG from last year) after one of my co-workers was stoked to hear I was in possession of both.

Bear in mind that (A) the HDMI hookup was through the TV, and the non-HDMI receiver we have hooked up only had fiber optic on it. Even without the HD audio, holy SHIT, THIS is the HD experience to beat; it's the first time I've seen a bulk of a movie on HD DVD in HD, and my god it was nothing less than a revelation. The DD+ track was unbelievably good downgraded, and I can't begin to picture what it will be like on an HDMI-equipped receiver even if it isn't lossless. The picture was the big selling point IMO; not only was this movie seemingly made for HD, but the effects looked even better than they did theatrically and more so firmly convinced me on my current opinion that Transformers already has the visual effects Oscar on hand.

Now THIS is what you call "more than meets the eye".

Hey Guys,

I picked up the 2 disc HD DVD tonight, and when I went to pop the disc into my brand new Xbox 360 HD DVD player, it kept giving me a "Can't read disc" error. However, disc 2, and other HD DVDs do not have this problem. When I opened the case tonight, disc 1 was loose, but there are no scratches on the disc, but there's just this weird discoloration right towards the middle, which disc 2 doesn't have. I'm thinking I have a crap disc and need to exchange this at Best Buy. Has anyone else had this problem?

I think theres just some bad batches floating around out there. Bring your disk to Best Buy and pop it in the demo player and see if it plays there. Thats how I found out it was the disk and not my player. Still an amazing looking movie.

I finally got my set yesterday and just finished watching disc two (love the easteregg relating to the X-Bot ). Both discs played flawlessly and the feature is definitely demo worthy.

The only bad thing I noticed about the transfer was some minute ringing that showed up in parts (most obvious when the Ospreys are landing in Qatar and just before Scorponok knocks down the antenna array).

I just finished watching Transformers on my 360. I have to say it was a much better experience than watching it in the theatre. The Transformers didn't seem blurry and I was able to tell exactly who was fighting who at all times.

Finally got this set today: it took Amazon over a week to get this to me from their warehouse that is literally a few minutes down the road.

What discs do I need to check? Both or just disc 2. One of these is a gift and I want to check it to make sure it works.

Sadly, I have the player only set up with my TV speakers, but I'll move it downstairs at some point to see it on the other TV (I really need to get another player, heh). But the visuals were just as striking as they were in theatres. (I saw this twice, both times in DLP).

Some have reported problems with disc 2. For me at least, two copies so far have had multiple chapters (5) that stuttered/skipped on disc 1. As a result, I never got to check disc 2 as I shut it off in disappointment.

I have to agree that the action plays much better at home. I was somewhat disappointed in theaters by the seemingly hectic, confused nature of the battle scenes but found that the battles are much more fluid at home...a signifigant change actually..
