How did everything else get mailers and discs sent to them?

toldawg128 01-12-08 10:13 PM

I got my replacement disc in the mail. It looks exactly the same as the old disc. BTW, I didn't have to send them my old disc.

When did you request a replacement?

I understand that if people contacted them back in December that you could get the replacement without any other effort. Sounds like since January, they are now swapping the disc (yours for the replacement).

I'm still trying to figure out to do. I don't feel like mailing this all off especially with the case. I was under the impression they would send everything I needed and I'd just put the disk in the bubble mailer and throw it in the mailbox. Now they want me to fill in more info. The INFO I already gave them...wtf

I sent them my contact info on December 21st. On January 8th I got an email saying "We have received your contact information and will be sending you a replacement", and yesterday I received it.

I checked one small part of the movie and it was indeed fixed.

Is your return label just a paper with your address and Disney's? Cause I got that but I assumed it would be a prepaid shipping label.

So should I call the 800 number and wait to speak with an operator instead? Would that be a more direct and faster route rather than the e-mail?

No, I got an actual sticker included that is postage prepaid Media Mail.

I haven't even bothered to mail mine yet.

Ocelot 01-14-08 11:20 AM

I just submitted a request for the exchange... i haven't receive anything yet, so i won't know anything until i do.

However, i have a theory to why some of you were able to get a corrected version w/o sending in the wrong version. Is it possible that you registered the wrong version prior to the request of the corrected version? In that case it's reasonable to assume that Disney know you've already purchased the movie and thus give you the replacement w/o hesitation.

When did you first email them?

cardaway 01-14-08 03:01 PM

Watched my copy again this weekend and I'm 99.999999... % sure the copy I purchased directly from TRU is the corrected version.

I'm starting to wonder why others haven't been reporting the same thing since I've read many also got theirs during the TRU b1g1.

Anyway, check your copy before sending it in. It might be the corrected version if you purchased it recently.

My first contact with them via the online contact form was on December 20. They emailed me asking for my address on December 26. I got back to them with my street address on January 2. They then sent the email stating that I would have to return the defective disc before they would replace it on January 11. I got the replacement in the mail today without ever having to send in the defective disc.

That's crazy. I don't know what to do now lol. I emailed them over two weeks ago. They Just got back to me a week ago saying they'd send me a pre-addressed mailer. Instead I got that stupid letter pertaining to more info I've already gave them. I'm still in a predicament full of confusion.

Bollux 01-15-08 09:00 PM

I just received my replacement. I originally emailed them Dec 20th, received a confirmation response 1/9/08 and received the disc (in Canada) today (1/15/08).

Anybody want a slightly unframed version of the movie for cheap?? :D

I guess only the first few hundred people got replacements and the rest have to show they actually did purchase it?

Kudos to Disney for taking care of this!

Since you have both discs, is there any difference between them that we can use to distinguish the old mis-framed version from the new one?

Not that I can see.... Sorry! I played them both in the problem scene, and there is a difference, but if I dropped them both on the floor, I'd have no way of knowing which is which.

There was a thread on AVS that had screencaps with the chapter/time information on where the mis-framing starts.

I think he was looking for disc ID's and the like.

And I didn't find those screencaps all that helpful. Without exact time codes it's hard to match screencaps and know for sure you're looking at the correct frame.

bluetoast 01-16-08 05:10 PM

I, like others purchased my copy at Toys R Us recently, and am wondering whether it's the corrected edition. Haven't gotten a chance to look yet, but I'll go to around 25-27 minutes and check at some point.

That sucks. Guess I'll be sending them another email for the sticker.

darkside 01-16-08 05:49 PM

I still haven't sent mine. The email I got said specifically to send just the disc, but the letter says to send it all. No idea which to actually send. I'll try calling them again.

On the playing side of the bad disc, the ID # is 008740. On the corrected copy, it is 016570.
