I emailed them on 12/27 and haven't heard back from them yet.

abintra 01-08-08 12:06 AM

Is there anyway to tell whether one has the corrected version or not without playing the movie? I just picked this up during TRU sale but don't have a BD player.

I don't think corrected copies have shipped to stores yet.

abintra 01-08-08 01:00 AM

I would rather leave it sealed until I'm ready to watch it but I gather that won't be an option as they will require something from the inside in order to get the non-defective version correct?

cardaway 01-08-08 02:47 PM

Well I watched my copy (purchased at TRU on 01/06/08) and it appears to be fine given the descriptions so I've seen so far. Not sure if anybody else has ever reported getting a correct copy directly from a store, but if mine has a problem it's not obvious.

I really wish there were more specific descriptions of exactly what to look for or screengrabs with exact time codes. I'm really shocked this kind of stuff hasn't been posted given the popularity of this title.

Look here to see the right vs wrong framing

Hopefully this is the week I get my replacement. I emailed on 12/20 and have received no response.

I think it's better if you call in and talk to an actual person. I emailed mine a day before you did and no response either so I called. They just mailed me a return envelope to send in the old disc and they will send in the new one after.

JayDerek 01-08-08 04:33 PM

Well after emailing about 2 weeks ago, i finally got an email response basically asking for my full address so they can send me the mailer to ship out my current copy.

Since I live in WI I hope this process doesn't take long (since they ship out of Necedah, WI)

mike2 01-08-08 04:38 PM

I got an email today as well. It took about 2 weeks. They are sending me an envelope to ship the old disk in. I don't recall giving them my address. Now that I think of it I was drinking Wild Turkey @ the time lol.

So, we send just the disc ... not the whole case?

Thanks.

What is the email address they sent it from? I'll need to sort it from the 500 pieces of spam I receive every day.

Yup, just the disc. You keep your old case to put the new disc they send to you. Pretty cheap of Disney.

They're replacing the disc at no cost to you. What more do you want from them?

DantheApe 01-08-08 05:44 PM

wow...they sent me a replacment disc without askin me to send my old copy back. I gave it to a buddy who didnt care about the framing.

probibly helped that i got in on this when they first started the replacment program...still, bummer they have gotten a bit strict on it. =[

Wow, I am surprise you feel this is fair. Especially when the problem wasn't the consumers fault. You feel that it's okay for them to charge you for it instead?

cardaway 01-08-08 06:14 PM

Thanks for the links Nugent and kiett_2000, but again, screenshots without time codes make it pretty hard to confirm anything. Pretty hard to match up that same exact shot without a time code to narrow things down. Especially in this scene.

But without the time codes to be absolutely sure, I do believe my copy has the correct framing. That means there are possbily corrected copies being shipped to retailers.

This is a perfect example of why they are requiring the discs to be sent in now.

In my experience the return envelopes for these kind fo things have had the postage prepaid. Is not the case this time? If it's prepaid, how are they charging customers to return them?

I went through the return process for two of Disney's True Life Adventures DVD's. The return envelopes had prepaid postage and the new discs came very quickly.

lgchan 01-08-08 06:32 PM

I've seen multiple message boards with step by step directions on how to request a replacement disk from Disney including all the disc info to type in, etc. It was obvious Disney was going to have to start requiring that the misframed version be sent to them eventually. I'm just glad they're still doing this as they probably got flooded with requests after this info hit boards mid-December with many requests being from people who did not own the disk.

How do they send the disc in order to protect it without a case?

In a protective sleeve shipped in a thick carboard envelope. Given the number of "floaters" in the standard Amaray and Blu-Ray caes, I can't see how anybody can complain. At least there will never be a "floater" using that packaging.

What more can you want? I think Disney is handling this with grace. Kudos.

I actually prefer this way. Who knows ... if you had to ship it with the case, maybe the case gets crushed in shipping or the case is defective or something.
