Hate to burst the bubble here, but the sales didn't increase 1000%. What happened was that the sales rank jumped by 1000%. The rank is determined relative to all the other sales at Amazon, so the Xbox 360 drive's sales could've increase only 5%, or maybe even less, and that was enough to catapult it up the ranks.

The same thing applies to the PS3's jump in rank: we don't know how large of an increase in sales that really is, just that it is an increase. The Wii's recent rank increase of 100%, from 2nd to 1st, could be a far more significant increase in sales than either the PS3 or the HD-DVD drive's actual sales increase.

This is purely ridiculous. People WITH money or should I say are smart with money, look for bargains. So, this isnt odd at all that it caused more people to purchase (rich or poor).

This discount and the 5 free movies most likely just pushed some over the edge and they decided to purchase. There were probably alot of people on the fence about purchasing.

There have been many times that I was thinking about purchasing something, but didn't until I found a good deal on it.
