Maybe this is the wrong thread to ask, but does anyone know what percentage of the US population owns an HDTV? And out of those, what the split is between Blu Ray, HD-DVD, neutral and neither?
|
Anyone who bought an A2/A3 at Best Buy...tomorrow they will apparently be giving away 3 free discs with purchase...so just bring your receipt in and get another extra movie.

Saw this at CAG - http://download.sears.com/misc/5Free_end022808.pdf
It seems TMNT has taken the place of Swordfish, and Syriana in place of Troy. |

On a separate note, it looks like eventual HD-DVD exclusive flicks 'American Gangster' and 'Bee Movie' both had great BO numbers for Friday; with both titles able to slide past 100 million with ease.....
Always cool when Universal and Paramount/Dreamworks titles overperform at the BO..... |

Fantastic. So, if I take that ad in and my receipts, BB should give me that third disc (especially since I bought it on Friday)?
|
But the A3 with the current 2 titles is on sale for $199.
The ad shows the A3 as being $299... so unless it stays on sale next week for $199, I don't see how they would give you a 3rd title without you giving them $100... but who knows what might happen. These stores are anything but consistent with the way they handle anything. |
Well, if tomorrow BestBuy.com still shows it at $199.99, then they still should give the 3rd title since it'd be like coming in Sunday, getting the 3 free titles and PM'ng their own site.

Just got back from my local BB and grabbed a new A3 for $199 and an open box A2 for $99 (they refused to give me a 10% even though it was open).
I will be bringing my receipts back on Tuesday to grab 2 copies of Chuck and Larry. The ad clearly says "ANY HD DVD player" so the A2 shouldn't be an issue. I'm not too worried about the price as the A3 price is $199 at Bestbuy.com RIGHT NOW and will stay that price from here on out. If they give you issues, return it, and rebuy it right away for $199 with the 3 free movies. |
How do you know it will stay that price?
The website states that is a "Sale Price" and not the regular price? Not trying to be argumentative, just trying to decide if I should jump on this or still wait awhile since I already have the 360 add-on. |

Just go in to BB, choose your movie, goto customer service desk and show them the ad. THEN give them your receipt and chosen movie at the same time. They will do a refund then a re purchase. |

Avs has a gentleman that has the scan of the receipt. Can you say price match differential at Best Buy? I'm on my way to the local Fry's and I will report on what I can find. |

Well I just put in a store pickup order for the A3, no Frys around here and didn't see it listed on their site.
Is there any reason to use the A3 over the 360 add on? (I don't have a new receiver w/HDMI and new audio format support and no future plans to get one yet.) I mainly got it because of the amount of movies pretty much make the player too cheap to not get and as a back up for when my 360 dies... again! |
A3 is much better then the 360 AO as it can be somewhat picky on what it plays. Also, HDMI is a bonus if your 360 is component only.

There seems to be 3 different mail in rebate forms:
The original with Swordfish and Troy: http://thelookandsoundofperfect.com/...ption_form.pdf Two new ones with TMNT and Syriana as options: http://download.sears.com/misc/5Free_end022808.pdf http://promotions.newegg.com/toshiba...neForm_R08.pdf |
