The one thing that is left out is that the first two Bourne flicks are available separately, but Spidey one and two are not, giving extra incentive to buy the three pack over the single SKU. I say add both three packs and single film releases and compare the two numbers, then divide by installed base and see how those two numbers compare. |

Im really starting to think WB will go hd-dvd exclusive soon. Maybe not at CES, but soon. My personal odds (based on really nothing :p ) 3:2 - Stay neautral 10:1 - HD-DVD exclusive 25:1 - Blu Ray exclusive 1000:1 - Drop 'em both

I'm glad to hear The Bourne Ultimatum is selling well, but despite the superficial similarities between its and Spider-Man 3's releases, comparing the two situations strikes me as next to useless. |
I seriously doubt Warner is changing policy at all, but I guess we will see. I've definitely shown my support for HD DVD this week. I bought all 5 Harry Potter films on HD DVD along with the Shining, Old School, Hot Rod and Bourne Ultimatum. I'm probably going to exchange my copy of Blade Runner for the HD DVD version as well since the Blu-ray apparently has a problem with one of its discs.

America is having issues with Disc 5 being Disc 1 (with Disc 5 artwork) and I think its the exact opposite for Canada. I may be wrong since I am confused as hell. I'm just glad this issue is not spread to HD DVD, since my briefcase should be delivered tomorrow. |
I picked up the Samsung BD-UP5000 today. Works very well for all formats (HD, BD, SD). They have not enabled Dolby TrueHD 5.1/7.1 support, but hopefully will soon(only 2.0 right now). So far, I love this player!

So I take it that it doesn't yet have DTS-HD MA support, either.

Check this link: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...=957384&page=3 Again, it appears to be limited to Canada at the moment. My US copy of BD version was fine BTW. |
Just for some fun...
http://www.avrevforum.com/showthread.php?t=980&page=39 I'm connected to Disney. I'm told totally different things. They have TL test discs authored. You do that because you love BD? This isn't a rumor. That is a fact. Their CEO routinely says the opposite of their VP that they are constantly monitoring both sides and remember Iger as recently as a few months ago again stated they were monitoring both sides. Last December he said it was likely they would be neutral at some point. Sony signed them to a 1 year exclusivity deal for pretty much free BD50s. That is up in January. The foggy picture looks like this: Warners is considering going exclusive still. They just won't be going BD exclusive. New Line is considering the same. Disney is considering going neutral. They want Warners to stay neutral if they're going neutral. I believe the chances of a change are less than 50% right now. To me it looks like a CES without changes except for possibly New Line. I know LOTR will be HD DVD's huge title announcement (and on TL). The House of Mouse is putting a lot of pressure along with Warners for them to come up with a solution. Otherwise those two are going to come up with one of their own. Warners may go exclusive to HD DVD. I'd put that at about a 40% chance right now. Disney may go neutral. I'd put that at about 70%. Sony is either going to cough up cash to stop Warners from going exclusive (and remain neutral) or cough up cash and keep Disney exclusive. I don't see Toshiba/MS coughing up cash to battle Sony over Warners. I think they'll keep that cash to make sure Disney isn't bought by Sony again (no they didn't receive advertising money, they received a ludicrous price for BD50). Ok enlighten me. I'm Warners. Tell me why the sales of Disney, FOX, and other companies titles matter compared to the sales of my studio. I'm not looking at one week either. I'm looking at a complete year where HD DVD has given me more profits than BD by about 10% and in the last 4 weeks HD DVD has taken over BD and given me those numbers for the year. Before then BD had a slight 5% edge. I don't care about Europe or Australia. They have their own distribution arm. All I care about is North America. I look at long term market research that tells me that HD DVD will overtake BD in sales in 2008. I look at the long term where MS is telling me in 2008 they will be updating all 360s to HD DVD internal drives. I look at the long term where the new 51GB TL disc is going to be released in 2008 on multiple titles. I look at Disney who was the winning vote for TL discs to be approved by the DVD Forum. I look at Disney testing the TL discs with their titles and preparing a 1Q 2008 HD DVD launch. |

Since it does decode TrueHD 2.0, im confident it will decode 5.1 soon. They rushed it to get it in stores before xmas. Why? I dont know, because almost no stores have them. |

I used the BB 10% off coupon and got it for $719 plus tax (plus I had some giftcards and a $5 reward zone coupon). Im selling my XA2 and Sony BDP-S300 to cover most of it (if not all). |
Woah, you got lucky! I love my XA1, but would gladly sell that and my PS3 for a UP5000 if I could. I could careless about it decoding certain audio formats as I don't plan on having a system of any kind any time soon living in an apartment.

Thumbs almost up from me....will be a full thumbs up when they support full TrueHD and DTS-HD. |

I thought this was a news thread, not a rumor thread? How about "Lotus" coming here to post his FUD himself?
