I don't know if there is a separate thread on this, but my 5 free Blu-Rays with purchase arrived today. I submitted my form sometime around July 23, so I'm very happy with the turnaround time.

I was wondering the same. I submitted mine around the same time. I received a PS3 about a week and a half after the price drop. I tried some of the rebate tracking websites but could not find anything.

DVD Talk Hall of Fame
Be sure to check your rental queues -
I checked Netflix and some BD titles that are no longer being released on BD were switched to the regular DVD version - i.e. Face Off.

Daewoo BD players coming
http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2007/08...daewoo_bluray/
Daewoo demos 'Blu-ray Disc 2.0' player
IFA 07 Daewoo has given the Blu-ray Disc next-gen optical disc format the thumbs up by showing off its first BD player, the slim, blue-hued DBP-1000.
Daewoo's DBP-1000: blue hue
The player supports the full BD specification, including the ability to access BD Live online content, to present picture-in-picture material and deliver BD's interactivity features - missing on many early BD players because the specification had yet to be completed.
Daewoo said its player can pump out pictures at up to 1080p via its HDMI port. It will upscale DVD and JPEG photos to full HD resolution, and supports DivX content too. The DBP-1000 can handle all the major recordable and rewriteable DVD and CD formats, along with BD-R and BD-RE discs.
Daewoo's DBP-1000: BD Live, PiP enabled
In addition to HDMI, the DBP-1000 has a full array of s-, composite- and component-video, and digital and analogue sound outputs. There's even a USB port on the front for feeding the player with downloaded video content off Flash drives.
Daewoo didn't say when the DBP-1000 will go on sale, or what it's likely to cost.

Venturer now Daewoo. Excellent. Looks like we might be getting a decent amount of players in homes by xmas. This can only help bring more titles to hi-def on both formats!!

The increasingly dirty technology war being fought for dominance of “next generation” DVDs took another twist today when one of China’s largest film distribution groups said it would back Blu-Ray – the technology built by Sony and Philips.
China Film Group’s decision comes as the Blu-Ray Disc Association – a consortium of over 170 content and hardware producers – is reeling from the defection of Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks Animation two weeks ago.
China Film Group, in addition to producing movies like Kung Fu Hustle and a range of popular film and TV series for its domestic market plays a central role in the distribution of foreign films in China, acting as a de-facto regulator.
The move by the China Film Group, said analysts, was evidence that the struggle between Blu-Ray discs and the rival Toshiba format – known as HD-DVD – will be heavily influenced by the choices of content providers and consumers in Asia.

But Blu-Ray received yet another fillip yesterday: as well as winning-over China Film Group, Acer, one of the world’s “big three” personal computer brands, said that it too would be adopting Sony’s format. Acer, previously an associate member of the HD-DVD Promotion Group, will build Blu-Ray disc players into their lap- and desk-top PCs.
Many believe that, while the format decisions of the major studios will be critical in deciding the outcome of the high definition format war, it may eventually be the PC market that has the final say.
Paramount and DreamWorks had previously released films on both Blu-Ray discs and on HD-DVD discs, the rival format produced by Toshiba and backed by the likes of Microsoft and Hewlett-Packard. Both studios, pointing to cost advantages with the Toshiba format, said that they would now produce content exclusively on the HD-DVD format.
Their decision, which surprised analysts and drew heavy criticism from senior Hollywood insiders, came as Blu-Ray appeared to be gaining the upper-hand over the Toshiba format in disc sales. Toshiba has denied offering Paramount and DreamWorks any financial inducements to encourage their defection from Blu-Ray.
Sony’s PlayStation 3 games console, which has sold more than 4 million units worldwide, includes a Blu-Ray disc player and is thought to account for the early lead of the Blu-Ray format over its rival.

I'm really liking all the BR CE announcements coming from IFA. I am very interested in the new Sharp and Sony models.
Btw, does anybody know what the big Hitachi announcement is?

Since they have that BD camcorder that's been vaguely announced before, it's probably that (though I'm only speculating).
The Sharp and the Sony players are both profile 1.0, so they are of no interest to me. The Daewoo certainly is an interesting development. Where were Pioneer and Panasonic?

08.30.2007 — PRESS RELEASE
Annapolis, Maryland, August 28, 2007 – In yet another coup de grace for the fading HD-DVD camp, Blu-ray Disc has succeeded in wooing Xperinet, Inc., the leader in development of performance IP media networks. Xperinet announced today it will outfit its 2008 line of media servers and clients with Blu-ray drives, further solidifying the format’s dominance over HD-DVD in the marketplace. Scheduled to ship in October, the MIRV (Multiple Independent Replay Video) HD line of media servers will include a Blu-ray ROM drive for loading high-resolution 1080p MPEG-2 and H.264 files.
Xperinet is the first media server appliance to adopt Blu-ray for the custom installation market. Governed by the Custom Electronics Design and Installation Association (CEDIA), this industry represents over 10,000 custom installation companies worldwide and over $12 Billion in electronics installation sales. “Xperinet’s leadership position in media servers for this industry strikes an important win for the Blu-ray camp,” remarked Aaron Chisena, Director of US Sales for Xperinet. “HD content is essential for revealing the capabilities of today’s 1080p displays, and no one wants to search through disks any more to find a movie.” The MIRV system not only stores video content, but also streams movies and music around the home so many users can have access to the same library simultaneously.
Xperinet will debut its Blu-ray enabled systems at the CEDIA trade show in Denver Colorado, September 6-9, 2007. Blu-ray equipped systems will begin shipping in October and an upgrade kit will be available for dealers to outfit existing MIRV servers in the field. Xperinet MIRV is available throughout the US, Europe, and Asia via Xperinet’s network of dealers and distributors.
About Xperinet, Inc.
Xperinet, Inc develops and markets convergence technology products for the Custom Electronics Integration industry. Headquartered in Annapolis, Maryland, Xperinet is committed to making technology usable by all consumers.

It's a press release. I noticed that BD press releases generally throw in barbs about HD DVD, while HD DVD press releases mention the "high definition media" market.
