That definitely looks like the artwork we would have gotten had this come out in 2007. It's got the old "Beyond High Definition" tag at the bottom. They did go back and re-do the cover. Too bad they didn't re-do the old transfer.

At least they finally have the listing up with the March 3 date.

Everything I've heard still points to this being a Tuesday release. Like Ronin, I don't think it will be 'readily' available. These high MSRPs on older titles are hurting there chances of being stocked. Fox has been great in lowering them a bit though.

DVD Empire has the front and back cover art up, so it is definitely coming out. As long as I'm certain there is improvement over the SD version -- I have the most recent release -- then I will eventually pick this one up.

To add to this, the back cover art was not there a week ago so I feel confident what they have posted is indicative of the final art.

Re: Silence of the Lambs Blu-Ray?

I'll probably pick this up on its street date, if a good price is available. It's one of my all time faves, and my DVD copy was a gift from my mom. It was the barebones edition, and it was in full screen, of all things, so I'm in need of a decent upgrade. I almost bought the upgraded DVD editions, but now I'm glad I held off.

The tunnel and Buffalo Bill's house is right down the street from me. My buddy lived in that house. Pretty neat stuff. And no, the basement does not exist.

Ouch MPEG2. At least it has some special features. This was totally a 2006/2007 release they just spruced up with the previous DVD feature. I'll wait for the $15 Fry's special on it.

It's $18 right now, although I think that's just online...

Pic looks decent from what I can tell, certainly better than previous DVD versions. Looking forward to revisiting this one.

I thought things looked not so bad until I saw the Scott Glenn picture. That one looks pretty poorly smoothed over to me.

Re: Silence of the Lambs Blu-Ray?

To no one's surprise, Amazon's shipping date is "7 to 10 days" for this. No listing still on bestbuy.com. If Target doesn't get it, I won't be able to buy it anytime soon.

It's great to know that a Best Picture winner and one of the best films of all-time is being treated with such respect by retailers.

Absolute complete garbage like Meet the Spartans could easily be found on release date, but this film is nowhere to be found. Such bullshit.

Just read on HDD that Fry's website has it for $17.99 with in-store pickup available.

While I am in no way defending the way this title was handled, I do think two things should be considered in this situation:
1. While SOTL may be a classic, catalog titles have proven to be very slow sellers on (what still at this point is considered ) this niche format. Like it or not, the new to home video titles (aka day & dates) is what is pushing the adoption of the format. So obviously, something like Meet The Spartans will be easy to find, while some catalog titles, no matter how celebrated in the past, will not get anywhere near the same coverage and retailer presence....
2. This particular title (SOTL) has had it's release date postponed & shifted around more than once, and also apparently had the whole disc overhauled in specs before finally making its way out the door....all of this could add up to some retailer confusion....look at the mess Warner just made with the Batman Anthology box set for example, not even finalizing the release and having major sites put it up for order until less than two weeks before it should be available! Yes, Blu-ray catalog titles are in many ways being treated as the red-headed stepchild right now (unless you are Disney, because MAN does that Pinocchio look good on the commercials!!!!)

Now you tell me. Unfortunately, no Fry's here and their shipping is steep.

I just ordered it through Columbia House. Oh well, I just opened a new acct, so I needed a fulfillment order.

Damn - I just bought it in store at Fry's for 22.99. Dealing with their CS is not worth going back for the $5. Just glad I got it.

Re: Silence of the Lambs Blu-Ray?

Where the hell are the reviews for this? And I don't mean just DVDTalk. But I've been watching closely online for over a week on all the BD review sites, nothing. And all review new releases a week or two before they're out. I'm just anxious how the PQ is rated.

Fox/MGM has not sent out review titles. I've been waiting as well. They've been very slow lately trying to send multiple titles at once instead of individual ones.

I've seen this used on some recent dvds. It's their way of saying it's using recycled material.

I know! I can tell in so many ways! It impacts my enjoyment of the movie in so many ways, too! Next they're going to tell me my jeans are made of individual threads woven together instead of a cut piece of solid denim!
