It's coming out on Blu-Ray as well in the UK on the same day as the HD-DVD version:

I got the HD DVD in to review. I haven't been able to watch it yet (stuck at work) but this thing has a TON of extras. Almost the entire back of the case is filled with a listing of all the special features. Annoyingly, it's got DTS-HD MA, which my A1 can't decode. Very obnoxious.

Looks like I'm going to stick with the SD 2-disc.

Damn I hope this is a good release, I just bought it without seeing any reviews first, and I won't get a chance to watch it for at least a couple days yet.

I just got this today since i had to exchange duplicate dvds I got fo Christmas? I never had the dvd so I picked up the HD-DVD without reading reviews. I guess I cannot complain unless the HD transfer is inferior to the dvd which I doubt it is.

I think you'll be happy with it. It is a phenomenal transfer that is every bit as beautiful as it should be. The colors are rich, the detail and clarity are fantastic, and the audio is amazing.
The DNR thing is really a non-issue. Unless you must have everything 100% identical-to-theatrical release, you won't be concerned with the loss of film grain and minimal loss of detail. This is one of the better looking HD releases out there and should find its way into everybodys collection at some point in time. I was originally concerned since I felt the original SDs were a bit murky -- and was fearful that was caused by the source itself. Not so.
The use of DNR was a bit silly on New Line's behalf, but it's even sillier to see people boycotting an otherwise fantastic release because of it.
to this release, and while I also hope modifying HD releases won't become a trend, I honestly can't complain. It isn't as accurate as the French release, but imo, that doesn't mean it isn't as good.

DVD Talk Hall of Fame
checked this out last night for a few minutes. I only rented out the dvd, and that was 6 months or so ago- my impressions of it though compared to the HD DVD are that the HD DVD seems more natural looking. I remember thinking the colors on the DVD looked purposefully oversaturated, a little more cartoon like. Here they strike me at first glance as much more realistic, and the contrast less 'pushed'.
I thought the DVD looked good enough to tempt me not to wait for the HD version if it didn't make it out by the end of the year.
I'm happy with the result here and glad I waited.
The French HD DVD may be 'better' but I have a hard time wrapping my head around the thought that what is here would be disappointing to anyone.

I watched the BD Friday night & really enjoyed it. After reading the HDD review, I was prepared for a bad experience on my 133" screen.. but I didn't find the DNR to be too excessive at all. Very nice looking disc!

Just got it and the scene I watched looked great. However, it is normal that there were 2 tiny black bars at the top and bottom of the screen? I've never seen a movie with an aspect ration like that before.

Technically, if you have zero overscan on a 1.78:1 display, you should see bars on 1.85: 1 material.

DVD Talk Special Edition
I finally opened this disc and it doesnt play on my XB360 add-on.
I put it in and it looks like its going to play, however it goes back to the dashboard.
edit- unhooked add-on, picked up and blew into it. It was only dusty. Time to get lense cleaner. Flawless again! 1 1/2 years with this add-on, should've known it!

check out pawnshops - You'd be surprised at what you'd find
I cleaned up on a ton of films on HD & BD at a couple locals!
I paid B&M price for this title. This is the first film my fiancee and I viewed together. She loved it and its destined to be in our collection forever!
