Anyone know what's going on with Weinstein's second batch of HD-DVD movies? I've seen conficting reports, some sites (such as this thread) have them listed for the 16th, yet other sites have release dates as TBA. I'm really looking forward to Clerks 2, and Lucky # Slevin. The sooner the better.

If Futureshop's not screwing with us, maybe we'll see this before the month's out. |

Hey Grubert, looks like the upcoming Gridiron Gang and Alien Vs. Predator blu-rays have moved to BD50's.

Catch a Fire coming from Universal on HD-DVD on 1/30. I don't know anyone who saw this movie in theaters other than me, but I really liked it.

Layer Cake (Blu-ray) March 13 release - Sony has bumped up the release to a BD-50, and the set will now be chock full of extras. In addition to a 1080p/MPEG-2 transfer and uncompressed PCM 5.1 surround track, goodies include a filmmaker commentary, deleted scenes, two alternate endings, making-of featurette, music video, photo gallery, Q&A interview and storyboard comparisons. Grudge 2 will not be hitting Blu-ray in early February, despite listings at Amazon and other online retailers. |
Awesome, can't wait for Layer Cake.
|
Yeah, looking forward to that. Makes sense for them to release it the same time as Casino Royale.

More blu-ray announcements:
http://www.thedigitalbits.com/#mytwocents More high-def announcements are breaking today in advance of CES, and we've got another one for you now. Buena Vista Home Entertainment has just officially informed us that they're announcing a large slate of 2007 catalog Blu-ray Disc releases at the convention in Las Vegas next week. These titles will begin streeting in North America, Europe and Asia in March, many of them as 50GB releases ("enabling the highest caliber encodes, expanded bonus material and exciting new interactive features" according to the studio's forthcoming press release). In North America, BVHE's 2007 Blu-ray catalog releases will include Chicken Little (3/20), the King Arthur: Director's Cut and G.I. Jane (both 4/3), Con Air, Crimson Tide and The Rock (all 6/8), Disney and Pixar's Cars, The Recruit and Open Range (Summer), Remember the Titans (Fall), and Finding Neverland (TBA). BVHE has also just officially announced Ladder 49 and Reign of Fire for release in North America on 2/13, with The Prestige following on 2/20. We'll have more details on those three in a moment. In Europe, they'll release Eight Below, Chicken Little, Enemy of the State, Flightplan, Gone in Sixty Seconds, The Guardian, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Pearl Harbor, Scary Movie 4, Sky High, Finding Neverland and The Wild (all in March), followed by Dinosaur and the King Arthur: Director's Cut (in April), Bruce Almighty, Con Air, Crimson Tide, The Rock and Cars (in June), and Air Force One, Reign of Fire and Wild Hogs (in Summer). BVHE's Asia Blu-ray slate will include Face/Off (in March), Chicken Little and The Wild (in April), Scary Movie 4 (in May), The Guardian (in June), and Cars, Con Air, Crimson Tide, The Rock, the King Arthur: Director's Cut, Air Force One and Starship Troopers (Summer). |

  Con Air, Crimson Tide, The Rock, Cars
I'm really glad I have a Blu-ray player. |
man unless we get some good HD announcements soon and if BR does a decent price drop on their players i might have to get another one. Wife won't like that. :)
|
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is listed on the front page of thelookandsoundofperfect.com as 'coming soon to HD DVD'.
|
Eternal?!?!?! YEAH :)
Universal better start announcing some KILLER titles to compete with some of BVHE's upcoming titles! And again they tease us with that ending 'Matrix' clip!!! |
Id pick up Crimson Tide, Cars, The Rock and Open Range, but really this is unimpressive IF this is the major announcements. Hopefully its just a starting point.
