As an owner of both an A1 and PS3, I only buy Blu-ray titles that aren't available on the HD DVD format. While many of my Blu-ray titles look great, an equal amount just look "soft" to me (yes, even some of the newer releases), and I'm always worried I'll buy a Blu-ray that is going to look worse than the HD DVD version...and since HD DVD has rarely let me down, I just go with it over Blu-ray.

My current buying is probably 50/50 for both formats, but that's only because of the huge decrease in new HD DVD titles since Christmas (the PRIMARY reason Blu-ray is outselling HD DVD right now, regardless of the "spin" you see elsewhere).

I'm still holding off for another year or so. As far as I'm concerned, both formats are still relatively "new" and might be prone to technical issues the same way DVD players were years ago in their initial launch. I am not interested in competing formats. The combo disc idea heralds back to the '80s when software companies would put one platform on one side of the floppy disk, another on the flip side.

The other thing that is holding me back is that for some titles, companies don't port EVERYTHING over from the standard DVD counterpart -- supplements, original theatrical audio, etc. I thought the whole point of the HD format with its high capacity storage, besides the lossless picture/sound, is that there still would be room to spare for all the additional content.

Having gone through them with the A1 I understand. I'm also reading about Blu-ray discs cracking, but don't know how reputable that info is since it only seems to be a issue with rental discs.
