Hmm, looks like anything below the 875 doesn't handle 1080i or p signals and will output those down to 720p?

It may just be listing what gets upscaled to 1080p. 1080p input would get passed as is. The 604 accepted 1080p, so I don't see why the 605 wouldn't.

I would hope there's a way to control what gets upscaled. I don't want 720p getting upscaled by the receiver and then scaled down on my 720p projector. I'd rather have 720p passed as is.

Frankly, I don't really care if it has upconversion abilities. I think I might actually prefer to send component to the projector so the input can be calibrated separately.

I got a cart error when I tried to pre-order that receiver. Just me? Or aren't they taking any more pre-orders?

I am trying to decide if the THX cert and extra HDMI input is worth it to upgrade from 605 to 705. At another $200 or so after discount, I don't think that it is.

I think I figured out the cart error: it's because the pre-order price is now back to the full MSRP of $499.

Do all the current HD and Blu-Ray players output truehd and hd-ma? and are these decoded into 5.1 or 7.1?

As far as I know, the XA2 does DTS-HD core only but the XA1, A1, XA2, A20, and A2 all do Dolby TrueHD.

There's some rumor that J&R got in trouble for posting it for sale so early and at below MSRP. The continuation rumor is that those orders will be canceled. We'll have to wait and see.

My order has not been cancelled as of this morning. I hope the rumors are just that, rumors.

I'm assuming this 'rumor' is just that. I ordered the receiver by phone this morning at the 399 price with no problem. Can't wait to get it and set it up.

I've also read on AVS that some users there have also been able to order the Onkyo 605 via phone at the $399 price.

The 605 is still not out and I've not seen any new date for release. I ordered at JR and they still only say "late May or early June" .

The Onkyo 605 is available for order on the CC website. Apparently there are also some stores with it in stock.

Price is pretty high at $569. The site state you can apply a $50 coupon though.
