It's not currently part of anything on our current release schedule, but we'll probably roll it out sometime this year,'' Bishop said on Jan. 8.
in other words, it's not likely to happen.
"not currently part of anything", "probably", and "sometime this year" are non-statements.
Still though, if they do it, good for them.

SONY PICTURES TO INCLUDE PORTABLE MOVIE FILES ON BLU-RAY DISCS
Jan. 10 (Bloomberg) -- Sony Corp.'s film studio will add a feature to its Blu-ray DVDs that allows copies of movies to be moved to laptops and other devices, as part of an effort to gain wider acceptance of the parent company's high-definition format.
Sony Pictures Entertainment will include portable files on Blu-Ray DVDs that can be transferred without a download, David Bishop, head of Sony's home entertainment unit, said in an interview this week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Sony may add the feature this year, Bishop said.

This kinda got me excited, actually. If they do, in fact, implement this, and if it is downloadable to the Playstation line, this might be really cool.
For example, if they offered the same movie in a much lower quality and smaller size file that I could transfer to my PSP (when I get one!) this would be awesome!

I know right now the cheapest one is a PS3, but I really dislike Sony in general (don't want to get into that debate..
), so I would like to avoid the PS3 and just buy a stand alone Blu-Ray player in the near future.

Go to Sonystyle.com and look down the page a little for the Sony credit card. You will see they are advertising $100 rebate after your first purchase that is applied to your card. Get this card and buy a 20gig PS3 for $500. You will automatically see the $100 come off your bill several weeks later.

This is not a real benefit to only but a small number of potential HD adopters.

As a counterpoint, would you open up a Toshiba CC to save $100 on the A2? Same difference.

I wouldn't open up another credit card for any reason.
I have really good credit but I also had my identity stolen several years ago...so opening up any credit card is a bitch and a half.

I'm sure it's high, but as with any rewards card, you shouldn't use it as a card that you carry a balance on.

15.24% after that.
Of course, it doesn't matter if you don't carry a balance or if you are just using it to get the $100 off and pay it off in less than 12 months.

Yeah, just pay off the credit card every month and the interest rate isn't an issue.
I'm thinking on getting in on that Sony deal.
