Yeah, this is my concern. Honestly, most of the Universal Hitch films are in bad shape. I'm not upgrading for the HD versions unless restorations go along with the extra cost.

Nice news! I'll be picking up:

* Children of Men
* The Good Shepherd
* Smokin' Aces (seeing it today so that might change)

Catalog:
* Scarface
* The 40-Year-Old Virgin
* Bruce Almighty
* Pride & Prejudice
* The Big Lebowski
* Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels
* Brazil
* Shaun of the Dead
* Dawn of the Dead
* Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

TV:
* Battlestar Galactica: Season 1

And you just know the reference to Day and Date TV shows in the future means Heroes and Friday Night Lights: Season 1 HD DVD (or at least I'm really hoping it does!)

I'm hoping day and date TV means The Office: Season Three.

I got upset but didn't break anything. Instead I went to Best Buy and pricematched Target's online price for the Saw movies on BR (thanks for the tip digitalfreaknyc!).

Just kidding, I threw up in my mouth.

PMing Target in Boise did not work. They said that they cannot PM to anything online. I hate Boise, I didn't put up too much of a fight, it was a guy I've never seen in there before and he was being a real dick.

It was RZ certificates anyway, so I picked up Saw 2 on BD since it was out a few days early. I might try again when I get more certificates, but everything is a hassle in that damn store here.

I might try speaking with a manager next time. Can't hurt.

Like I said, I always get my discs from one particular place...so I never have any trouble.

Yeah, it's worth a shot. Plus, a lot of the CSRs in there know me, or at least have seen me a lot, and usually help out if they can.

I'm always leary about getting in spats at retailers, I'm a pretty big guy, and usually they get awfully defensive if I'm getting annoyed and send for a manager anyway. I'm in there ALL the time for crap, and the security greeters at the front door know me pretty well. One time I was talking with one of the regulars while they were inspecting my laptop, and he told me that I'm almost constantly under watch in there as soon as I walk in. I don't know what the hell they think I'm going to do, but it's pretty funny.

Yes!

I held off buying the DVDs because I figured this was a cinch to be released on HD DVD, being a new series and shot in 16 x 9 format. Just hope the price isn't too high.

Well, the point of the car unit would be for playing the movies you only have on HD DVD on the go. Of course, you wouldn't be able to enjoy HD quality. However, as time goes on, people will be buying more and more movies for the first time in an HD format, and some are getting rid of their DVD versions of movies bought in HD. If you're the type to watch movies on the road, it would be nice to have a player that plays those movies so you wouldn't have to buy (or hold on to) the DVDs separately or rely on HD DVD combos. I'd rather see them accomodate portable use with portable HD DVD players than combo discs.

As for the Universal titles, I'll buy some of them. I didn't care for the comedies on the list, but I am looking forward to Brazil and Eternal Sunshine. I'll need to see Children of Men and The Good Shepard soon, and for some reason I've never seen Scarface. I guess now is the time to do that.

This is the HD DVD promotions group list TSD was referencing before he disappeared. It's not from the studios themselves.

Absolutely nothing, HBO is owned by Time Warner thus they release on both.

No dates for most of it so far.
