The Digital Bits may have beaten them to the punch with the title announcements.
Universal is planning on more than 100 releases this year, with 40-50 of these available in the first half of '07.
Some of these include:
Day/date-ish:
Catalog:
TV:
The overwhelming majority will be combo discs.
It's a good selection of titles -- and there are more than a couple in there I'm game for -- but nothing that really gets me in a tizzy.

That is a decent list of titles. Universal seems contempt to keep people waiting for their big guns like Back to the Future, Hitchcock, monsters, and Spielberg.
Too bad most of those will be combos. I am trying to replace my standard DVDs with HD, not pay extra to keep a side of the disc that I do not need. Nevertheless, at least Universal has come out of hibernation. I will pick up Scarface, The Big Lebowski, Lock, Stock, and maybe a few others.

Ohhh...ok thanks. Was just wondering how I got the Superbit.
Btw...this wasn't something about Thedigitalbits beating them to the punch. The interviewer said he couldn't post his interview until Universal gave out their press release. I'm assuming the interview will now be up soon.

...and it is indeed the same exact list.
What a tease, though:
No Hitchcock titles (unless I'm overlooking something repeatedly) were listed.
What a tease, though:
Q: Any Hitchcock titles in the works? If so can you give us the titles and release dates?
A: Yes! Look for specific titles the end of this report.

The order to the promotions list is pretty accurate from last year to this month so we should be hearing announcements for American Pie and AP: The Naked Mile soon, followed by Conan.

As of today, this is how my radar looks:
The Good Shepherd
Children of Men
The Bourne Identity
Liar, Liar
Bruce Almighty
While I would be happy to get my hands on those titles, I'm not exactly excited about this announcement. In particular, I'm disappointed that some of these movies will be priced higher because they will be offered as Combo discs only. Even at $3 - $5 more, it all adds up.
I guess the big Spielberg titles was just wishful thinking on my part.

Which store/chain are you referring to?

BestBuy. I went there yesterday and they had Halfbaked out a week early for $29.99. They also had Wickerman and Beerfest on the shelf for both formats which tells me they are getting WB discs in early, finally.
I'd love to know why the big stores have no problem putting out HD titles early while they know not to do it for dvd.

I was just there today and saw Beerfest being put onto shelves as well, but that was for BD only. Combo discs like Superman Returns and Miami Vice were still $34.99 and Fearless was still $39.99.
