We all have to remember that is 42,000 units that gamers bought , that kind of gives you an idea of the Video gamer demographic that is interested in HD movies. So you can use that to the Ps3 and get a rough idea of how many people purchase a ps3 for a bluray player.
One thing i want to know is How many HD DVD add on for the 360 were made ?

If you were a hacker isn't that what you would be trying to get around?

For those that care about rumors...here's the latest about what will happen at CES from the ONLY person I listen to on AVS:
Dreamworks. DCM is handling their HD plans. What are they? Will they be exclusive to HD-DVD? Paramount will do the distributing, but only to the format(s) that DCM specifies.
LGF will go neutral.
Newline will announce titles.
Dreamworks will step into the picture.
Anchor Bay will step into the picture.
Disney may announce neutrality, and it's a lot more likely than I thought yesterday.
Could be that its Sony/MGM/FOX vs Universal/Dreamworks/Weinstein/Anchor Bay
Which to me would mean a draw in the Studio department. Add the upcoming CE partners....
Things could level off at CES. Right now if I was the HD-DVDPRG I would be wining and dining DCM and securing another exclusive. That would be more important than anything. I'd also make sure that LGF was happy.
Disney is already leaning to neutrality and I wouldn't want to push them.

Forgive my ignorance, but what's DCM?
Otherwise, if this all works out to be true, then it sounds like good news for HD DVD. But in any case, it'll be good news for HD fans in general if we can finally get some Dreamworks and New Line titles out there. Now we just have to see how they'll fare with regards to quality and special features. Will they be Fox/MGM-esque and have little to nothing or will they follow the Warner example? Hopefully the latter....

Thankfully, we now have a week or two to see if this comes true. We've been excited about LGF/BV adding HD DVD to their repertoire. I honestly don't care if Dreamworks and Anchor Bay go to HD DVD or both formats: both formats would be more cost effective I imagine. As long as they offer HD DVD, that's fine.
Sony and Fox have some great movies, but BV has the biggest, most desirable catalog and recent spate of releases: animated classics, Pixar movies, PotC, Miramax, etc. If they switch over, Sony and Fox could never release HD DVD and I'd be OK.

Also, who knows, maybe Dreamworks will go BD exclusive?
We will know alot more soon enough.

I just thought if its true about "DCM" or whatever controlling the format chosen then they could go either way. I just dont know enough about it.

I don't think Dreamworks can go exclusive. They've got such an amalgam of cross-collaborations with all the studios that I don't see how it could do anything but both formats, and that might even be on a per-title basis.
Will Universal's Gladiator be HD DVD only? Will Universal scoff it it's in BD?
Will Fox's Minority Report be HD DVD only?
Will Sony's Almost Famous be HD DVD only?
We've already seen simething like this with Cinderella Man, the only HD DVD where you're greeted by a Miramax logo. These international deals just make the whole format war more ludicrous. I can see multi-region stuff going much more mainstream when people find out they can get other titles from overseas.

what's the deal? Why hasn't there been any new annoucements of some big A-list titles (Harry Potter for one)?? Blu-ray continues to release a slew of titles yet the HD-DVD side has been rather silent...
