2 samplers and one additional disc gives the $20 discount
#352
I got 4 titles yesterday. The regular pricing is higher, but they have a much, much better selection than any other B&M I've seen. Saw another guy there with a huge stack of titles. I'll go back before Sunday and get a few more. At least they are getting attention this week and are actually on sale. Wonder how long it was before dvds were on sale.

Digi! Shhhhh!!! Folks are buyin' HD-DVDs!!
Of course you're right -- any way you slice it, AT BEST this deal only EQUALS the prices on Amazon. At the same time, though, you can walk into a Best Buy, plunk down some change (albeit a hefty chunk of change), and walk out with discs in hand. THAT's worth something . . .

AND, amazon occasionally delays in sending some titles.
There are benefits to walking in to Best Buy versus going online. In this case, I would do it (and very well might today), but for their regular prices, no way.

I totalled up the titles that I want. At amazon, its $54 and at BB, its $59.50. So, about $5.50 difference. BUT, Bullitt says 4-6 weeks on amazon.
I dont mind paying a couple dollars more per disc as long as I get them today. Plus, my brother got the free 300 ticket with his purchase the other day. I hope they still have some left.

There is also the slim chance that HD DVDs selling well during the sale could encourage Best Buy to lower its prices.
BTW, the Wal-Mart by me also added a section of BD and HD DVD movies and they are cheaper than Best Buy so its another option for quick gratification.

If i didn't have gift cards i wouldn't have bought from best buy. Best Buys prices suck for pretty much everything, so when you find something close to a decent deal you gotta jump on it.

If I remember right, I think Space Cowboys, Troy, House of Wax, and Lethal Weapon 2 were all marked at $18.99 the week they came out. They went up to $24.99 a few weeks later, though. That said, I guess some stores like yours must have a few lying around which didn't get changed . . .

This is really sweet if you can pricematch amazon.com prices. I just picked up some HD titles with target.com printouts to PM. Purchased Fearless (BB wanted $39.99 for this, ridiculous), Babel, and Batman Begins for $56 and change after the automatic $20 discount. I did this at the customer service desk, but had a young, laid back kid ring it up. Once he hit total, it prompted him to apply the discount.
I would suggest maybe PMing, but throwing in some other items to purchase as well. It might make it less obvious that the discount afterwards were for the HD purchases.

My deal was good and bad. I found a copy of Crank on Blu-Ray that was mispriced at $24.99, so they went ahead and honored that. But they wouldn't include the new NIN disc in the promo, so instead of $20 off of 3, I got $10 off of 2, since I picked up The Prestige as well. I didn't think about it until I got in my car, but I should have picked up Jay & Silent Bob to get the extra 10 bucks, and used my PS3 rebate on it. Oh well, still a decent deal, since I had $20 in rewards certificates to use.

I picked up Pulse and Lucky Number Slevin though.
