What difference does that make? The dude replied matter of factly that there was not going to be an LG combo player as if he knew that (despite it already being reported that they were making one), he didn't say there would not be one in 9 months.

Anyone else going to use the Best Buy deal tomorrow? Buy 3 HD DVDs, save $20 or buy 2 and save $10? I'm going to buy 3 of the $24.99 titles. Total should come out to around $59. That's pretty good considering they have a great selection of titles. In the past 6 weeks, I've only bought Poseidon, The Departed, and Babel. I think it's time to splurge on some more content.

If you just want two HD-DVDs from Best Buy, you can add the Hdscape Sampler - HD-DVD for $0.32 or order three copies for $0.96. The only problem is the HD-DVD is a pre-order and you have to pay shipping.
Edit: The breakdown if you buy two $24.99 titles: $39.98 or $38.75 with the sampler. If you buy two $29.99 titles: $49.98 or $48.75 with the sampler.

Printed out Target's online prices for HD DVDs and was able to pricematch them WITH the Buy 3, get $20 off deal. This made the deal much sweeter. Just wanted to let you all know that you can DEFINITELY do both (YMMV).

Picked up six today as well. May return and get 3 more on Tuesday when Bullitt is released.
Picked up:
12 Monkeys (DVD replacement)
The Sting (DVD replacement)
Excalibur (DVD replacement, I know the transfer is pretty blah, but I like the movie)
Dune (didn't realize this was the 80's version or I would have picked it up sooner)
V for Vendetta (rented and loved this one so its time to buy it)
Beerfest (Yeah I know, but I'm in the mood for something dumb)

Oh and on topic, I have not been able to find any combination that gives me any incentive to take advantage of this deal. With 10% and amazon prime, the 10-20 discount just does not do it by the time you factor in tax and having to actually go to Best Buy (the one in Knoxville must have some of the slowest, dumbest and most pitiful employees in the whole country).

To be fair, Beerfest got a good review here from Adam and that was one of the reasons I picked it up. Watched it tonight and it was definitely what I expected. Flawed, but funny and raunchy. No regrets at all and definitely what I was in the mood to buy.
I hated their last movie as a troup, Club Dread, but this one had a lot of the stuff I liked about Supertroopers.
I realize that this deal is still not as good as Amazon, but I have a Best Buy 10 minutes away and the quick gratification was worth getting it there. I'm just happy to see Best Buy putting any HD DVDs on sale.

Also, I have to agree with the Club Dread comment. I enjoyed it, but not nearly as much as Super Troopers or Beerfest.

For the Best Buy deal....it appears you can combine HD and Blu-Ray (at least online it works). I tested with the HD Sampler. I did not buy anything, as it still was pricey.

So could you preorder 2 sampler discs and one other title for in store pickup and cancel the two preorders after you pick up the one in store? Might be an easy way to get an addional ~$7 off.

just got back from Best Buy and picked up 6 hd's. 2 of them were mispriced so it worked out even better. Here's what i scored:
2 Fast 2 Furious: $18.99 was supposed to be $24.99
Space Cowboys: $19.99 was supposed to be $24.99
Lucky Number Slevin: $24.99
total after the $20 off was about $46.xx. I was quite happy about that.
2nd round had all of these at $24.99:
Van Helsing
Jarhead
Constantine
Total came out to about $56.xx
Not too shabby, plus i used giftcards for both orders except about $16 worth.
I also saw that you can pricematch this deal at Circuit City. They did have better prices on Departed and Babel than Best buy.

I dont know if it has been said, but the Best Buy deal ($20 off 3 discs) DOES work on some pre-orders online (HD-DVD and BD). The Game HD-DVD is one of them.
At least I can get to the cart and it works, I havent completed the checkout.

I don't have the amazon 10% or prime shipping, so the Best Buy deal works out for me especially if you pick three $25 titles. Picked up The Terminator, 50 First Dates and Saw for $55 plus some Reward Zone points for me
