True HD is so much more? Hmmm...wait a second. I thought you didn't own an HD DVD player. So how the hell would you know the difference?

And luckily, you're in the minority on the extras issue. People are used to getting their moneys worth. Do you see "normal" people buying superbits? No. So what makes you think they'd buy an HD version that's barebones or extra-lite for even MORE money?

Please do. If CJ says they could have added a TrueHD track but decided not to, then I blame the studio for being lazy. If he says they couldn't because of size contraints, then I blame the studio for placing extras above AQ.

So clever, aren't we? I guess the fact that I will have one in less than two months, and that this title will still exist on the format at that time without TrueHD doesn't mean anything to you? Despite the fact that I will not be watching that title today doesn't negate the fact that it will still be lacking when I do watch it in less than 60 days.

While I agree that TrueHD on every release would be great, I think its just not feasible right now for either HD-DVD or BD.

Like digi said, TrueHD right now is being treated as an extra and included on their major releases. I wish it were the norm.

I highly doubt that Corpse Bride just didnt have room (its only a 76 minute feature), but we will see what CJ says. Batman Begins has ALOT of extras, has IME and a TrueHD soundtrack. Troy, of course, has already been discussed.

I think it probably comes down to the cost of it more than anything, but thats just my guess.

And that is the sad truth. With so many PCM releases on Blu-Ray, there should be no excuse for every release, on both sides, to have a lossless audio track.

It means nothing to me. Would I prefer to have lossless sound on every title? Sure. Would I prefer tons of extras as well? Sure. Would I prefer to have a fucking print of the movie in my home with a projector? Sure. Would I like to sit down with Spielberg for a private commentary every time I watch Jaws? Sure.

Give me a break. I want the best possible presentation with a packed disc of extras. That's not too much to ask.

SD DVD already set that bar pretty high and I'm not going 3 steps forward and 1 step back like BD is doing. IMHO, HD DVD is taking 3 steps forward and stopping.

Well, thats a different debate....Sure BD has some titles with uncompressed PCM, but HD-DVD does have some TrueHD titles along with almost every title (maybe all im not sure) at least having Dolby Digital + where on BD many just have the same track as the standard dvd.

Back on topic, BHD was pulled? I wonder if it is just to allow an official press release. Eventually Sony has to get BD50 figured out, I would think.

BD has a lot of titles with uncompressed PCM. HD DVD has 4 with TrueHD.

The Dolby Digital track on BD is the same bitrate as the DD+ track on HD DVD. The difference is that HD DVD limited their DD tracks to 448Kbps (?) and BD did not. So they are both running at 640Kbps. The "+" is just a marketing scheme to make you think you are getting more when you really aren't.

No, BHD was not pulled. The announcement was, but not before enough people saw it. They are probably planning a big announcement to usher in the BD-50 and wanted to save any official notice for that.

There is no telling...it reminds me of when WB put T3 and Harry Potter GOF hd-dvd on the WB press site and then pulled it.

It very well might be delayed past 11/14. It wouldnt surprise me, but if thats the case, I wonder how that affects the BD50 version of Superman Returns.

Ah, I really didnt know that they were the same bitrate. That makes sense then. I hadnt read enough about the audio on BD. I always thought the "+" was just based on the higher bitrate.

Unlike the picture quality though, for many movies, I dont think an uncompressed track would make a huge difference over the Dolby Digital at a higher bitrate. RV on BD has an uncompressed PCM track. Big whoop.

I have alot of hd-dvd titles that just have Dolby Digital +, i think they sound great and they include all of the extras from the sd release. I think the trade off is worth it....that doesnt even mention that TrueHD might have delayed a release, increased the cost and might not have made a big difference anyways (Rumor Has It??).

For big titles like Superman Returns, Batman Begins and Troy, TrueHD is/will be a big benefit on hd-dvd. Luckily, for BHD, it looks like they are including an uncompressed PCM track.

Cj said that it was "creative choice" on the part of WHV not to include it on the hd-dvd. He didnt go in to specifics. So, it doesnt sound like the size was the factor in it.

That makes sense too....like I said, many longer running titles have it included.

"Creative choice" is a political non-answer. Size could have very well been the factor, and you can't really remove any possibility of that because you didn't have an answer saying it wasn't.

If size really was the reason for the decision, then dropping the extras for a TrueHD track would have been my prefered option. Also would show that extras were included at the expense of audio quality, something you said BD "had" to do but HD DVD didn't.

Cj just told me that Corpse was pushing the bandwidth on hd-dvd and that the disc size didnt have anything to do with it. He said its probably 80% full.

He said that WHV decided to give more bandwidth to the picture.
Anyways, why arent you complaining about the BD version not having a TrueHD or uncompressed track??
