In any case, I have a feeling the only reason they're "dipping into the pool" with these gaming options is because, unfortunately, Sony has pushed us into this collision of games and movies. Now both sides have to deal with it and figure out how to make it work.

, not "unfortunate". Yay me.But, I really don't see people buying a lot of movies to play on their PS3 though. Probably some, but PS3 owners for the most part are gonna spend their money on games.

Update on my Best Buy antics:
I went to their website today (since Amazon STILL hasn't shipped), and saw both Robin Hood and T3 were available for in-store pickup. So I called to see if they actually had them in the store (since the asshole yesterday insisted they didn't have any), and after 10 minutes of searching and checking with the manager, the guy finally found them. I had them put them on hold for me. I will be emailing Amazon to complain about their inability to ship these discs on the release date.

I haven't seen the disc, but I find it very interesting that John's review today tore the Tears of the Sun picture quality a new one. That's the disc that BD supporters on AVS are saying proves that Sony finally pulled their act together.
Hmmm....

Well i've decided to take the ass backwards way of getting into HD-DVD. I've decided to start buying discs before i even have the hardware. And its not like i'll be getting the hardware in a few weeks, more like 6 months. My wife and I agreed that we wouldn't get a HD TV or HD DVD player until after my birthday in February.
But, the prices that i can get on HD DVD's at work was just too good to pass up. So i placed my first order today for:
Batman Begins
Charlie & the Chocolate Factory
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory
Adventures of Robin Hood
Corpse Bride
Mission Impossible Ultimate Collection
All told it will cost me about $85 shipped. Just too good to pass up. With any luck i can build up a nice collection. And with alot of luck maybe i can get lucky and get a raise or a better job so i can convince my wife to buy around x-mas.

I'm the assistant manager at a video store so i can order movies from our distributor, plus i get a discount. It's one of the perks i get for having a really shitty paying job. I'm allowed the discount as long as i don't abuse it too much. The other nice thing is that i can trade in movies and get store credit. I'll probably trade in my special editions of Batman and Charlie & the chocolate factory to knock the total down some more.
And if you're curious how much it costs for the movies from the distributor, All of the movies i listed except for the Mission Impossible set were $18.38 shipped. The other benefit is that i get them the friday before they are released.

They say patience is a virtue but I want Robin Hood now

I am sad.
I hope Amazon gets its act together on these pre-orders.

New info up from TSD2005 and Videoscan:
"We know that currently no Studio has switched sides to the HD-DVD camp.
Lionsgate will change that shortly.
Anchor Bay is set to announce HD-DVD titles. They are likely going to release BD as well, but currently it will be HD-DVD only.
Disney is said to be waiting for 500,000 players on the market. That number may be reached 1st quarter 2007.
Fox will not be far behind. "

I just hope they can release Halloween 1,4&5 and Romero's Day and Dawn of the Dead. They have a whole new format to drench us in Evil Dead releases.
The one title that I'm most looking forward to in HD is Suspiria.

So, uh, lets all get together and purchase 450K players (I wonder if that includes the 360 addon
).

Hellraiser 1 and 2 in HD! *dies a happy man*
How reputable is that source? And is it true Fox is considering going dual as well? If they did AND Disney did, then the war would be just about over.

It's the same source that posted the sell through rate of Batman Begins on Amazon the other day. Looks like he just expanded on the info. Also, if you go back to his first post the 500K players were stand-alones that studio(s) were looking for.
