Actually, I was pleasantly surprised by how good T3 was. It certainly felt like a Terminator movie, which I thought was almost impossible to do without James Cameron.

That reminds me, I need to go watch that HD DVD of U-571 that I picked up.

I also enjoyed T3 quite a bit and liked that they kept the ending so dark. Very cool.

DDD lists Seabiscuit as an HD DVD/DVD hybrid, although the MSRP is just $29.95:

http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/redir...fier=MCA030035

Is that a mistake?

I take it the "s" in Professionals is a mistake, and they're referring to Leon.

I don't think a movie as long as Leon could be put onto BD without some serious compromise.

They'd probably release the shorter US theatrical cut. That seems to be the trend with Blu-ray so far.

Looks like someone at Lion's Gate got a clue on this issue, as THE DEVIL'S REJECTS and AMERICAN PSYCHO Blu-rays will the the unrated versions.

Agreed. But the poster specifically said Leon.

Yeah...cause that extra 30 seconds for American Psycho will really kill BD's bitrate

They simply are releasing the version from the most recent release. The original cut of AP hasn't been released since the initial DVD, AFAIK.

The movie from the 60's with Burt Lancaster? If that's so, I'm impressed that they're releasing an older title this early.

Didn't make a difference in the cases of UltraViolent, Basic Instinct 2, Saw or Robocop. All of those are only a couple minutes longer in their Director's Cut form, but the studios chose to release only the theatrical cuts anyway.

No official date but at least its good news about MI3...

http://www.videobusiness.com/article/CA6360515.html

Interesting though, no word of BD release for this or other releases. I wonder how aggressive WB and Paramount will be with BD in Q4.

Yeah, ive heard that....its just seems weird that they dont talk about both at the same time. Like saying that MI3 will be on hd-dvd and bd.

Dawn of the Dead 2004 and The Exorcist would be sweet. Halloween would be a great time to release them.

I would love to get Dawn of the Dead '04 this year. I wonder if the Exorcist HD DVD will debut with the upcoming box set....

Now on to the high-def news: At the Entertainment Media Expo event here in L.A. yesterday, Warner, New Line, Paramount and Universal revealed a little bit more about their HD-DVD release plans through the end of the year. Here's the relevant details:

Warner - Expects to release between 35 and 50 additional HD-DVD titles before the end of the year (in addition to the 21 already available). They'll have more Blu-ray Disc titles available as well, but weren't specific as to how many.

Universal - Plans to have a 60-title HD-DVD slate out by the end of the year.

Paramount - Has 10 HD-DVD titles available now (or soon to be available) and will likely release 10 more by the end of the year, including Mission: Impossible III. They're also expected to release at least a few Blu-ray Disc titles by the end of the year.

New Line - Is waiting until early 2007 to begin releasing titles, and plans will depend on how the fourth quarter plays out for both HD-DVD and Blu-ray Disc. They'll begin with day-and-date new releases and continue with strong catalog titles like Blade and Se7en.
