I'm a little disappointed just because the theatrical poster is one of my all-time favorites.
oh I don't know, I think it's still a cool looking cover.

Hmmm, looks like a new case type. Interesting.
That looks more like a regular DVD keepcase which i would prefer. And no feet

Warner Brothers Home Video is gearing up to announce three additional catalog titles in addition to "Dirty Harry", which we broke news of yesterday.

Coming soon to your HD-DVD player are "Caddyshack", "House of Wax (2005 Paris Hilton version)" and the John Wayne classic "The Searchers". The latter will be presented in Mono 1.0 audio while the others should carry typical Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 tracks.

Another group of movies i could care less about.

That's a nice bit of news. I'd probably wind up picking up all three (or four, if you count Dirty Harry as part of that). I'm especially interested in The Searchers.

Definitely want The Searchers and might double dip on Dirty Harry.

Looks like a steelbook, actually. Look close at the spine, the rounded edges, the thickness of the case, and the huge gap where you'd normally open the case.

Ditto....one of the best westerns ever made (I already own the best on hd-dvd, Unforgiven).....I hate John Wayne normally, but damn that was a good movie.

Awesome. Caddyshack and Animal House were the only older comedies I wanted to get in HD!

Wait, wait, wait...I thought the Dirty Harry movies were being prepared for a big 2007 HD-exclusive release? And where is this website getting this info? Forgive my ignorance, but given that they're the only ones so far to mention Caddyshack, The Searchers or House of Wax (and seriously? House of Wax?), I feel hesitant to embrace this information.

House of Wax isn't really a shocker. It had a negligible production budget and did surprisingly well at the B.O. Announce this for a late October release and I'd imagine they'd move enough units.

Nah, those were all on Warner's early list of 2006 HD DVDs, so none of these are a surprise.

I believe the HD exclusivity of the Dirty Harry releases was an assumption people were making from a press release and is unconfirmed.

I think I'm one of the few on here who loved the House of Wax remake. Saw it twice in theaters and at least 3 more times on dvd. I will definitely pick up the HD DVD version. This is a title that I'm really excited about getting.

Not to mention they have cover art on their site already for most of those titles. I doubt they went through the trouble of photoshopping some covers. Now hopefully we will get an official announcement from WB soon.

Where the hell is V for Vendetta!?!

If the site is reliable, then I'm excited about The Searchers and Dirty Harry.

And I did see the cover art, which certainly lends a lot of credibility. I just wasn't sure if the site was well-known (hence my ignorance).

Also, count me in as someone who's anxiously awaiting V For Vendetta. However, as it's been (basically) confirmed that there will be an IME feature on it, it won't surprise me if it comes out in a few months from now, a la Poseidon. Hopefully this sort of delay is only temporary; perhaps with Superman Returns, we'll start getting day and date HD titles with IME features.

I'm not sure if The Man Room is just more aggressive than most sites about seeking out and reporting HD DVD release news, but they're usually one of the first, if not the first. DVD Active and DVD Reviewer.co.uk are usually up there too.

We have an editor (myself) who is gung ho on the high-def home entertainment push: HD-DVD, Blu-ray, PS3 and Xbox 360. To the point where serious site changes to focus on those areas are being discussed (have suggestions? PM 'em over!). Therefore, yes, you could say we're more aggressive.

And yes, the news is legit. It comes direct from Warner Brother's press website. Note: none of the titles have been dated yet, and also note Good Night, and Good Luck is back on the HD-DVD slate... albeit also undated.

Best,
Dan

That's just it!!! I'm dying to finally see this film.

But I really want my first time to be on HD-DVD and not SD-DVD

Thank you for posting and letting us know, and I'm glad that you're getting the information out ASAP. Again, looking forward to some of these titles.

Thanks for the release news!!

Damn, love your site, but my work blocks it for some reason. Maybe they think its a gay porn site....not sure.

Suggestion - In the future, can you send news updates as soon as you get them via email?

It would have to be a "subscribe to HD-DVD news" type feature. As that would take a decent amount of development time and work to happen in the near future, so I recommend you head over to http://news.google.com and subscribe to the word "HD-DVD". Our news shows up in Google's feed, along with several other informative sites. And I do believe they send an email when there's a match. The only caveat is you'll get some garbage mixed in with the good stuff.
