Hmm.. is Enter the Dragon the first HD-DVD from WB to not include the special features from the SE DVD? That was one of the things I liked so far, the HD releases having the deluxe/SE DVD extras...

The list of extras at The Man Room at a glance looks like it has everything from the 2-disc special edition.

and to those in the Washington DC area the AFI is showing a HiDef DLP presentation of Bruce Lee's 1972 sequel The Way of the Dragon on July 14th and 15th.

well, according to a poster on AVS who worked on the compression, Batman Begins is ready to be replicated. Someone else claims that BB will be coming July 11 with the Dukes and Dragon.

Warner (?) compressionist CJPlay on AVS mentioned that the V for Vendetta HD DVD will include Dolby TrueHD audio and the 'In Movie Experience' feature, and since there are those sorts of details to report, an 8/1 day/date release sounds likely, although he's tightlipped about anything more than those couple of features.

Universal's 9/19 titles -- Dazed & Confused, End of Days, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and George A. Romero’s Land of the Dead (Unrated Director's Cut) -- are reportedly being delayed a week to 9/26.

Re: Terminator 2

When someone said T2 will be coming eventually, Robert George at AVS had this to say:
"Eventually" will be a lot sooner than you think.

That means Lion's Gate must be a "go!"

Bring on Crash! HD DVD should get all the features from the 2-disc dvd set whereas the BD version has no features.

Two more from Universal -- Army of Darkness and Fast Times at Ridgemont High on 10/3. Fast Times... will be a combo disc. No word on extras yet for either of 'em.

I wonder what the likelyhood that BD delays will also delay HD-DVD titles....like I wonder if Paramount will hold off on some big day/date titles (like MI3) since BD basically isnt ready?

If so....curse upon Sony!!!!

Universal shows Army of Darkness semi-regularly in high-definition on Universal HD if you want a preview. It looks awfully nice. I'm more curious about the extras than the presentation at this point.

That's my big question as well. I anticipate that the transfer will be great, but will they include any of the extras from any of the innumerable SE DVDs?

I don't think AOD will include any of the extras from its other DVD versions seeing as how Anchor Bay produced them and this is a Universal release. Just like how the Traffic, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Dazed and Confused HD DVDs won't have any of the Criterion extras.

I think these titles that have Criterion/Anchor Bay editions were chosen BECAUSE they have those special editions. They know people will buy them just to get them in HD, even though they'll (likely) lack the extras.

Will AOD be the DC, that's the big question. Although I do love the "Good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun" line in the theatrical cut.

Does Universal even have rights to the director's cut? I know that they only released the theatrical cut on DVD, so I'm betting that the HD DVD will be the same...but with much better picture and audio.

Some Superman Returns news from the compressionist at WB:

One of BS' assistants called our office to talk about the IME and "what can he do with it". Guaranteed an IME there, dear friends. As to TrueHD, I'd be out of a job if I didn't make room for it.
