I wonder with all these additions to their press website today, if they are planning to make a huge announcement soon?? Lets hope.

I've got Blazing Saddles right now from Netflix and I'm too lazy to send it back and just buy it. The transfer is outstanding, regardless of age, it holds up there against everything else I've seen.

The older films are still going to look better. They won't look as good as a new film, but that's no reason not to bother with them. If you aren't going to buy something because it doesn't look as good as your best stuff looks, you wouldn't buy any older films-on any format.
I hope they've cleaned up Caddyshack, because the print they transferred for the (widescreen) DVD was very dirty.

And yes, the news is legit. It comes direct from Warner Brother's press website. Note: none of the titles have been dated yet, and also note Good Night, and Good Luck is back on the HD-DVD slate... albeit also undated.
Best,

Why are all the links for the recently announced Warner HD DVDs from your site gone now? Did Warner make you remove them?

From The Digital Bits this morning:
"We've also got a bit of new HD news for you this morning. Warner has revealed that they'll soon be releasing Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket on Blu-ray Disc format. The exact street date is still TBA, but it's nice to see another title that we'll be able to compare on both Blu-ray and HD-DVD. And speaking of that other HD format (the one in the RED case), Warner has also revealed that they're readying the 2005 House of Wax remake for release on HD-DVD. We expect official details on both releases very soon."
Only a slight bit of bias there (even if he's kidding...). Plus, to people who don't come to forums like this one, it sounds like the only upcoming HD DVD Warner release will be House of Wax, as opposed to the other four classic films that are being prepared for release (The Searchers, Dirty Harry, Caddyshack, The Dirty Dozen). Sometimes TDB is a great resource for news, and sometimes....

One of the first DVDs I bought was Fletch... simply because it was widescreen and my laserdisc was 4:3. It would be a nice touch if one of my first HD-DVDs was a cleaned-up Caddyshack.
It's the little things that add up. As a laserdisc owner, I was happy ignoring DVD for quite some time in the early days (1997-early '99). It was the really trivial things that started adding up... Halloween II, Fletch, Monty Python's Meaning of Life, The Black Hole, Condorman... these may not be the greatest movies ever made, but they're ones I really enjoy. And the DVD editions convinced me to add a player to my existing LD-centric configuration.
