Thats true...you never know what studio suits will do....they think about nothing but MONEY.

With the way that Paramount got burned by the Tom Cruise backlash, I bet they're going to think twice about releasing any Mel Gibson titles in the near future.

Yeah, but i think it also might depend on if the disc is near completion. If its already in the works, they will release it.

No, you've got it wrong. He doesn't kill any Jews, but he does blame them for the whole fight taking place at all.

You mean it wasn't their fault?

And it looks like I got stiffed by Amazon on my copy of The Italian Job. It was supposed to have shipped already, but the status never changed on it. Thinking it should have at least entered the "We are preparing this item for shipment..." already, I called Amazon on it. I got one hell of an "apology" in response.

I looked into your order and see that “The Italian Job” is in short supply. We ordered this item from another supplier, and hope to deliver it to you as soon as possible.
Sometimes, unexpected fluctuations in supply can add time to our original availability estimate. I do understand that such changes can be frustrating for you. Please accept my most sincere apologies for this inconvenience.
While we do our best to adhere to these estimates, our inventory is constantly changing based on information we receive directly from our suppliers.
However, I’ve contacted the concerned person in our company to look into this matter and ship your order as soon as possible.
Please note that we are here to assist you and we do want to make sure that your order works out. We take full responsibility for the safe delivery of your order.
Although we cannot change the damaging impression made by this order In an effort to compensate you for this inconvenience, I’d like to offer a $5.00 promotional certificate for your future Amazon.com purchases. I’ve redeemed a promotional certificate in the amount of $5.00 in your account.
I have checked your account and can assure you that your $5.00 promotional certificate has been automatically redeemed onto your account. You will not receive a claim code.
When you place a qualifying order, you should see the promotional funds listed in the order cost summary that appears just before you submit your order. As long as the order qualifies, you will not need to do anything to receive the promotional discount.
Rest assured we will keep this item on order and ship it to you as soon as we are able to obtain it. We will not charge you for it until we ship it to you. On the date of shipment, we’ll send you e-mail confirming the date, contents, and method of your shipment.
I was a little impressed, to say the least; I didn't think my email to them was all that "brooding", to be honest. Either way, service like this is what keeps me going back to Amazon...well, that and the 10% discount and free 2-Day shipping.

... Paramount has officially confirmed that Mission: Impossible 3 will street on 10/30 in DVD, HD-DVD AND Blu-ray Disc formats. This will mark the first time a major new theatrical film release has launched simultaneously on all three formats on the same day.

Just as we told you yesterday, there will be an anamorphic widescreen 2-disc collector's edition (SRP $24.99). The HD-DVD and Blu-ray Disc versions will both sell for SRP $29.99. All three will include 5 deleted scenes, 4 featurettes (The Making of the Mission, Mission Action: Inside the Action Unit, Visualizing the Mission and Scoring the Mission), Easter eggs and trailers.

The 2-disc DVD will also include audio commentary with Abrams and Cruise, a Moviefone Unscripted segment, "tribute montages" and a photo gallery. The high-def releases will add an "enhanced" picture-in-picture version of the commentary along with 1080p video and Dolby Digital Plus audio.

There will be a single-disc DVD version as well (SRP $19.99), available in both full frame and anamorphic widescreen, that will include only the commentary, The Making of the Mission featurette and the deleted scenes.

They didn't just fail to mention it; they gave out false information. If you look at their source, it says that "In addition, the HD DVD release will include an “enhanced commentary” with star Tom Cruise and Abrams that shows them talking in a corner of the screen while the movie is playing." On their site, it was "paraphrased" to say that both high-def releases will have the enhanced commentary.

Let's say they had given out the specs for the HD-DVD and then mentioned that the title would also be released on BD. It may have been somehwat misleading, but it wouldn't have been false.

EDIT: they've corrected it now.

Digital Bits is a disgrace right now. I guess it will all be worth it if Blu-ray gets its shit together down the road and beats HD DVD, but you have to laugh at how hard many people are working to slander HD DVD and pump up Blu-ray all with false information. I thought this crap only went on in our government.

On the BD payroll obviously. Nothing more than a commercial now.

So any hints regarding the remaining 9 or so titles from Paramount this year? I keep hearing persistent rumors that Reds will be on HD (Coming Soon on www.toshibahddvd.com and via an unofficial Paramount rep on the HTF). Obviously there's MI3.

And now that MI3 appears to be a two disc HD set, could that leave the doors open for the upcoming Apocalypse Now SE to be released (as all that content won't fit on one HD DVD)? Over The Hedge? Any Dreamworks titles? The Truman Show? Scrooged, even? Braveheart? Any hints, those in the know?

Team America and Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events should be 2 of the titles released later since they are mentioned in the Paramount HD promo introduction.

I emailed him too. Here's the response:

"Dude, I haven't done any fucking thing to help the Blu-ray Disc cause. I
posted the information that was in the Video Business story. I'm waiting on
the official press release from Paramount to confirm all the details. This
bullshit about how I'm supposedly so Blu-ray Disc biased as got to stop. You
should know better than that. We haven't even reviewed a single Blu-ray
title for gods sake!

Bill Hunt, Editor

What a douche.

Wow, that's sort of harsh. How strongly worded was your letter to him?

As for Team America and Lemony Snicket, I think it was in this thread or another where it was stated that, despite the ad, those two wouldn't be released this year.

I wasn't in the best of moods when I emailed him. I just took a little jab at him, but nothing to cry about. Clearly he's gotten tons of emails with accusations of being in the BD camp. Coincidence? I don't think so.

That's hilarious. Hunt is nothing but a joke now as far as I'm concerned.

Since I'm under the influence 2day. I will say Team America is most likely coming out next year and Reds is coming this year as well as Black Rain. Since Dreamworks is part of us now look for something from them this year.

I said be4ore that Blu-Ray versions of earlier HD-DVD titles are coming out this year.

I noticed Scoop was on the upcoming list on the Look And Sound of Perfect site, and that's Dreamworks. I'd love to have Scoop on HD DVD this year.
