I guess last night some of the Circuit City stores had some. Now none of them do. I'm still leaning towards doing Best Buy, but their site is down.

For the stupid way they're distributing them, they better be $1 or less.

Got mine yesterday - as reported the picture looks great - hookup was easy - 2 concerns though

1. Unit seems to run a lot hotter now that the player is attached - after Kong both of them were running very hot

2. Noise factor - didn't notice it as much with video games but the X Box along with the DVD player make some distracting noise while playing the DVD. I have a center that can close it behind glass which helped but I could still here it humming - made me turn up the volume quite a bit to drown it out.

Overall I am happy but the above 2 issues have tempered my enthusiasm a bit.

you solution to problem 2 is what is probably causing problem 1... I've heard others say the drive doesn't run that hot at all.

Just got shipping confirmation from Robert at VE.

gimmepilotwings 11-10-06 12:16 PM

Any reviews anywhere about this player yet?

Mr. Cinema 11-10-06 12:19 PM

I don't think there are any official ones but there are scattered ones at AVS. Most say the pic quality over component looks great but the sound through optical is a little low.

Remote is supposed to be very responsive and it loads a movie much faster than the Toshiba.

Mr. Cinema 11-10-06 12:22 PM

I won't get mine until probably mid week unless I can find it instore. Circuit City has started to receive them.

If you want to try at Target, the DCPI # is 207-00-0748, according to posts at AVS.

Still says NEXT week at Bestbuy.com

CircuitCity.com is getting them in MI finally, but not at my closest store, so maybe that is the last stop or they are already gone possibly.

UncleGramps 11-10-06 12:38 PM

I decided to bite the bullet and make the jump into HD-DVD today.

I found the add-on during my lunch break at a Circuit City here in NJ. The online inventory check showed one at my local store, but when I got there I didn't see any. I had to ask at the customer service desk - I guess they hadn't put them out on the floor yet. I also picked up Batman Begins and Serenity - guess I can sell my DVD copies of those two now. I'll try and post my impressions over the weekend.

Yeah. I just ordered since I had a ton of credit there. Estimated delivery is 11/18. I am going to keep my eyes open and if I see one somewhere else, I may buy, then just return the BB one to where I got the first one.

You can't use RZ coupons online, can you? If so, I would do that....but that is what my BB credit is :)

Oh well....glad the reviews seem positive on this thing thus far. I'll really have to start using my blockbuster online rentals for HD-DVD.

Did you go to the Wayne location? I went to pick mine up around noon time and the guy that worked there told me they got a bunch in yesterday, but they were almost sold out already.

No. I had Best Buy Bucks and a ton of gift cards.

For those hunting in western Washington, the Everett Circuit City shows in stock and available for pick-up. Got mine.. screw Amazon!

FantasticVSDoom 11-10-06 01:52 PM

Im just hoping that my sister gets back with me soon about it. She was unsure whether MS was selling this as a loss leader. Only problem is that with MS, you have to wait sometimes to get products until after they are released and with the screwy nature of this release it may take a while.

I went to the Mt. Laurel location (South Jersey). Not sure if they still have them now - I didn't think to ask how many they had.

Not sure I'm following....

Closing the glass door on your entertainment cabinet traps the heat, making the units heat up more than they would in a totally open area.

Gotcha - I can cut a bigger hole in the back of the unit to try to alleviate the heat issue.

As for the noise- even with the glass doors closed it is still loud

is it just my unit or does anyone else have this problem?

Deftones 11-10-06 05:22 PM

Cool. Found a CC fairly close to where I'll be running errands tomorrow and they have it in stock. Placed an order for it. I'll just take back my BB one there when I get it next week.

DJ_Longfellow 11-10-06 05:29 PM

Just picked mine up at CC today...I had a $40 coupon, so it was only $160 for me! Now I can use my RZ coupons on HD-DVD or games

We're you able to use a printed coupon?

Amazon.com is seriously testing my patience :(

I ordered mine on Oct 18th, and it still hasn't shipped :(

PornoStar 11-10-06 07:34 PM

I ended up getting mine yesterday from Amazon and it had the King Kong movie with it so I was thrilled as I wasnt sure if I made the cut or not with the free King kong. I havent had a chance to hook it up yet as I have been engulfed in Gears of War almost non stop since last night so ill let you guys know how it goes when I get around to hooking it up sometime tomorrow.
