Some people are reporting that Best Buy will not get their shipment until 11/17???!!!???

Does that make sense?

Deftones 11-07-06 08:07 PM

Two the the BB stores near me told me that. Their website reflects that if you order it online. I don't like the sound of that. :/

Also, while they basically hand the 360 drive its ass on a platter, I think they were a little unfair as they compare the accessory only in the context of buying it in addition to buying a 360 at the same time. In that sense, it might pale to a standalone player or a PS3 with HDMI, but as a $200 add-on to hardware someone already has, it's a bit more attractive.

Concerning the weight MS and Toshiba is placing on this unit, it could be a good talking point for them to keep studios away from ICT flagging.

Ain't going to happen. During our meeting, it was pretty much understood that everyone doubts that it would happen even in the next 5 years, if ever.

Terrific! I was figuring that MS/Toshiba would push against ICT given their stance on BD+.

Strangely enough, I remember reading that Fox actually wasn't in favor of using ICT last year. Go figure.

Here's the box. King Kong and the remote will be in the box.

Looks like they're available starting today/tomorrow.

Has anyone actually seen one of these in the wild yet? Please post if you have and where/when

Mr. Cinema 11-08-06 08:55 AM

I cancelled my Amazon.com order and got it through Robert from AVS. Value Electronics.

He says he is definitely shipping this week, most likely Friday. All of his add-ons come with King Kong. Amazon stated that only the preorders of their initial allotment would contain the movie, but if you ordered during their extra allotment, only the drive and remote would be sent out.

I think Robert has a few drives left, plus he offers free shipping as well.

DJ_Longfellow 11-08-06 09:22 AM

Hopefully today people start seeing them....MS really dropped the ball on this launch. No release date, nothing concrete.

REL77 11-08-06 11:49 AM

How can I tell if my Amazon Pre-Order has the movie or not?

dago2727 11-08-06 11:56 AM

My Amazon.com order just changed to Shipping Soon status. It should be in my house by tomorrow.

anyone know where to go to the store and find one? Gamestop didn't get them like they were supposed to....

Deftones 11-08-06 01:57 PM

Most retailers won't have them for a few more days, even up to a week.

mhinkley 11-08-06 01:58 PM

Just got off the phone with EB Games...they will have it tomorrow.

I got a preorder in on a Canadian site... had a "spend $250 save $25" coupon, so I bought the drive, Tokyo Drift and preordered Superman Returns... Supes ended up being like $8 with the coupon (and after the shipping charge). The drive should ship early next week and is from Canada's first allotment, so it should have KK....

Nothing at my CC, Best Buy, Target or GameRush.....oh well, I guess I'll wait next week for Best Buy.

Mr. Cinema 11-08-06 04:43 PM

Okay. Just got off the phone with Value Electronics. I had placed my order this morning at 9:53 am eastern time. The lady I spoke to said I barely made the cutoff line for the 1st allocation. So if you order past 10 am or so, you are probably on the 2nd shipment, which very likely may not contain the Kong disc. She said the ship date is Friday or Monday. That's fine with me. I still have the A1 to use, but it's good to know I made the deadline for the King Kong disc.

Yes, i certainly did... How do I know if I was in the first allotment was what i wanted to know. Is there anyway to tell if I got in on their first shipment?

Mr. Cinema 11-08-06 04:56 PM

Letting us know when you ordered would be a good first step. I think on November 1st was when they updated their site saying they found an extra allocation, so maybe any time before that will be bundled with King Kong.

The only way to really find out is to call them. But it appears the CSR's at Amazon aren't going to have a concrete answer.

jiggawhat 11-08-06 05:34 PM

I'm just gonna press my luck and wait till I get it. If it doesn't come with the DVD I'll return it.

shaqIQ1 11-08-06 05:40 PM

I ordered mine from amazon on 10/24 (initial allotment I believe still)and just got a notice that there will be a delay in the shipment date. It now shows a delivery date of November 15th. Really hoping for the DVD + remote to be included, otherwise I definately would look elsewhere.

Mr. Cinema 11-08-06 05:45 PM

Next week is just huge for electronics in general. Microsoft is releasing both the HD DVD drive and the Zune, and then of course the PS3 and Wii.
