Yeah it would become-gasp- an actually DVD forum. Who'd have thunk it.

Ah, the good old days (meaning about 3 or 4 months ago).

I picked the threads in TV Talk by title alone, and I wasn't arguing against them, anyway. The idea was exactly that, TV Talk being more focused in subject has enough room even for poll-like threads.

And classicman2 is right saying that what I'm afraid might happen to At the Movies is happening to DVD Talk right now. That's why, to make my opinion clear, I'd rather support a "General Movie Discussion" forum than extending the "At the Movies" scope.

All-

For the record, the idea of expanding 'At the Movies' has come up already amongst Geoff and the moderators. It is an idea currently under consideration.

Unfortunately *sigh* it has its own problems as well.

I can see the problems with that, but what's the problem with keeping at the movies, and having a General Movie Discussion forum for all movies not currently in theaters? It would unclutter dvd talk, and leave at the movies unchanged. Maybe the traffic would be limited enough in it that it could handle the polls, just like TV Talk, and eliminate the need for a polls forum. The only problem I can see is it would require more mods, but I'm sure Geoff could get volunteers pretty easily.

It seems pretty clear that the moderators are reluctant to make any changes to the DVD Talk forum even though it seems like the vast majority agrees that the forum has gone down hill in the last couple of months.
It's a shame that there won't be a Polls Forum. Between the innane polls and the unruly nature of the DVD Talk Forums in general I can't help but feel that this site is on the decline.

If I want to see nothing but useless posts I'll go to USENET....

I'm starting to like HTF more, and that's not saying much.
