Is calling for the banning of other members, or even hinting they should be banned, within forum rules? If it is, it seems like the kind of "skating within the rules" the mods are trying to address.

Hopefully, suspensions and bans won't be determined based on posters' political leanings.

Two different mods. Neither of whom were me, FWIW, although I do agree with the thread being moved out of Other (where it's not relevant) and into Forum Feedback.

I'm not sure what the overtly political discussion going on now has to do with that, considering that the moved thread was about changes in moderation approach.

My post here had nothing to do with trump directly, but was a response to PerryD's strawman claim, pointing out how his post was bullshit and asking him to point to examples, which he still hasn't done. It wasn't about trump, but in line with this thread and how people shouldn't get butthurt when they get called out for their bullshit.

How would the conversation go if that President bombed people in the US who disagreed with him? Still calm and civil?

When is it allowed to be outraged by what the President does? And who gets to decide when that outrage is appropriate.

That’s what’s so frustrating about these calls to close the Politics forum. It’s like closing the HR department because there are too many sexual assault complaints. It is not a “nice” time for many people in this country, yet all conversation here has to be calm and civil no matter what the President is sending out into the world with his official statements?

If there were a lot of members in Politics, regularly posting, I'd think differently, but it's a small group of people who have banded together to gang up on anyone who enters that place who has a difference of an opinion. Need examples? I challenge the mods/admins from other forums to take a visit there. Right now. And see who's posting. Who is new. Etc.

This is exactly what I expected it to be.

It’s the Forum Feedback and Support section, and a pertinent discussion is taking place about boundaries, accepted rhetoric, and the world of Trumpism as they relate to this community. Going by the responses, and calls from certain members to close that section entirely, it looks like it’s a conversation that needed to happen.
