Forum Database Errors

Lots of server timeouts and forum database errors yesterday and today. Anyone working on fixing it?

X 01-30-13 07:04 PM

No. They aren't going to bother fixing it. They are just going to leave it broken so nobody can ever visit again. -rolleyes-

It was a reasonable question to ask. -rolleyes- There were significant outages yesterday and today, yet no announcements or discussion threads about it. X's answer was reasonable too.

About as reasonable as asking a man whose arm was just ripped off if he is okay.

Its common sense. There was no discussion about it because a crash like this is nothing new at all and it will always be fixed shortly.

fumanstan 01-30-13 09:28 PM

Re: Forum Database Errors

No harm in asking. People like a few details. For instance, maybe the problem isn't permanently fixed and we can expect occasional problems the next few days or something (pretty sure we went through a stretch here like that before).

Terrible analogy. Your analogy is akin to me seeing the forum down and posting, "Is there something wrong with the forum?"

A correct analogy would be me coming across a man with his arm ripped off, and, not seeing anyone working on him, asking "Is anyone helping reattach this man's arm?" And then X's response is "Yes, someone ran to get help to reattach it."

Maybe I spend too much time on here. But this has been happening at least once a week. Often 'every few days'. Wonder what the reason for all the 'cutting out' is?

It was just happening for me a few minutes ago.

I check the "is it down" website and they always agree that it's down, and not just some problem with my cache or something.

Yeah, I assume they restored the backup from right before the crash.

Is anyone else having an issue clicking on the forum links? Anytime I try to enter a sub-forum, it brings me to the list of all the sub-forums on one page. I've been able to get into a thread or two, by clicking on the little arrow for last post. But that's the only way.

Still happening. I've even logged out of the forum completely and did a hard refresh of my browser. Whenver I click on a sub-forum to enter, it just takes me to forum.dvdtalk.com which is the big list of all the forum areas. I can only get into threads by using the arrow for the last post made in a sub forum.

Even if I type in a url directly to go to a sub-forum, say Other, it just brings up forum.dvdtalk.com.

Odd and not sure why.

**EDIT**

It seems to just be happening when I try to enter Other. I clicked on Video Game Talk sub-forum from forum.dvdtalk.com and it did go to that forum area.
