If it's under $5-10 bucks, I'll probably take the dive (per year). This is my most visited site on the web.

If it's over that, I'll pass, because it is IB.

I would happily pay $100 a month just to have that crap ass DVD icon by my forum name and nothing else as to 'features'.

Bring on the premium memberships!

$100 a month is only $1,200 a year. Most people spend more than that filling up their car.

I would imagine the premium memberships will not be offered until a full set of features are finalized. No one is forcing you to spend the money should you choose not to.

How about this. Have a $25 yearly membership fee. But have a discount code only Premium Members can use on particular DVD retail sites. Include Amazon if possible. Have something in the username info area that simply says something like:

DVD Polizei
Premium DVD Talk Member
DVD Talk Hero

Maybe add a little icon if necessary.

I doubt that I'd want to pay much more than that either. Not just for a few features.

There is only one feature that would entice me to spend money on a premium membership, but since he has already been suspended indefinitely, I guess that is now a mute point!

That seems like a good idea.

I don't care where the money is going but this is my most visited site so if the features are good and the price is right I'll jump in.

As Benedict said all the current features on DVDtalk won't change, there will just be added features for premium members. I hope that stays true.

I heard that if Twikoff doesn't subscribe to the full premium service, his post count will be reset to zero.

Can premium members still get banned? If so, will it take more than the usual amount to get banned?

There is an element of "jumping the gun" when it comes to debating and discussing an addition to the site that has yet to be formally announced and opened up. Currently it is undergoing testing prior to any future launch.

However, I think it is fitting to say that the feeling amongst the moderation crew, supported by IB, is that the rules will be applied to premium members in the same way that they are applied currently i.e. in signing up for a premium membership there will be some form of acceptance that one doesn't then automatically become "flame-proof".

(Please don't ask for further clarification, though, because I simply do not have it).

I know many of our members would be okay with an extra 10 cents a month if it meant that some of our poorer members were able to enjoy the same features free of charge. Please consider this. I would also propose pricing based on affirmative action for a better balance of race within the community.

Seems kinda silly to have put information out about this premium membership thing before being ready to officially roll it out. I think secretly IB/the mods love to see a thread like this start up and all the witty banter that follows.

I like the idea of the exclusive discounts at retailers, like DVD Polizei said.

A DVD

I refer to it as "The silver go@t$e". Anyone should be proud to have one after their forum name.

*edit: I can't believe that word is forum censored. I thought we were adults here.
