The business plan doesn't make sense to me. Spend more money than Geoff could afford on new software and servers, but don't change anything about the forum. How does IB expect to recover their investment?

Seriously though, these cats know what they are doing. I had a long meeting with them on Friday. Lots of search engine optimization and marketing related efforts in the works to boost revenue.

I was thinking that the software and the servers may well cost them less than Geoff and that as part of a group they were in a stronger position when it came to determining advertising rates.
I don't have any inside info, however.

The other part of the equation is the company's IPO. DVD Talk will certainly enhance the overall value of the package of their company portfolio as well since it is an area they had not really gotten into. If it doesn't work out over time, they could always spin it off (probably back to G!) but there is a LOT they can do to enhance the financial status of the website without going overboard on the kinds of advertising that most of us hate. They're looking to get $10 to $12 a share and depending on the strength of their offering, should be able to get a nice chunk of change. Any changes they make to enhance the revenue here will probably take into account G!'s experiences so I'm willing to see what happens.
