"Malware Alarm" redirects in IE

For the last 3 days, about once a day when I click on a link, instead of going to the link I clicked, the browser will redirect to some blank page with a popup box saying something like "Your computer may be at risk, click here to install Malware Alarm for protection etc.". The three times it's happened were twice on DVDTalk and once on a wrestling site. I've not installed anything new and am generally very good about not ever getting hit with bad stuff. I ran Spybot and AdAware and they only came up with the normal cookies to get rid of. Any ideas what this is? I'm on XP SP2 and using IE 7.

edited to add: I usually ctrl-click lots of links in IE (to let them load then read through), and judging from the rest of this thread (I originally had it in tech talk), I guess it wasn't the wrestling site that brought it up, but a ctrl-clicked DVDTalk page.

I've gotten this twice when coming to DVD Talk the last two times. I'm on Windows Vista and IE 7.

Just got it doing a search of the TECH forum. Results didn't come up, took me to the maleware page. This was in IE. I haven't had a problem in Firefox.

I got that last night, using Firefox (rarely use IE). Did a scan with SUPERAntispyware, which said something had tried to change my IE homepage, even though I was using Firefox. Deleted the offending stuff after the scan and rebooted the computer.

So far this morning, haven't encountered the problem yet.

Me too. I've been noticing it for a couple of days.

Something like this might not reduce TOO much of the usual crowd from visiting (though I'm certain some will stay away), but I'm certain it will chase away MOST of the new traffic, should it happen to them.

I've hit this both times I've visited dvdtalk today. The dvdtalk tab disappears (safari earlier, firefox now) and a pop-up for performanceoptimizer.com appears. It doesn't matter if I click cancel or ok, it directs me to another page and appears to be trying to do something, but I closed the window asap.

OK, I pulled Tribal Fusion from our rotation. I'm thinking if its coming from anywhere it's probably there. I've also blocked every url I can think of at google adsense. Unless something is hacked into the code of the site... Which I haven't ruled out. I'm hoping i've done something to fix it. UGH.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem like that worked either... I just got it trying to load up the main forum page, before I even saw the listing it went to the performance optimizer page.

OK It may be an exploit with VB. I just installed a security patch. Let me know if that did it.

Been getting this serveral times over the last few days. When I tried to go into the DVD Bargains forum, I got hit again. What sucks is that if you use the back browser buttons the thing just recycles over and over again. You have to close out of the browser immediately and try again, hoping for a different ad in the rotations.

I just got it again around 5:45 CST. The links are:
