What happened to http://forum.dvdtalk.com as a way to access? Keeps taking me to the main page. Using the forum dropdown on the mainpage returns me to the main page. I was only able to get here by clicking on "Video Game Talk", then clicking the "Forum" link on that page's title bar.

Yep... Just doublechecked.

Everything that uses the "forum.dvdtalk.com" name (the "forum" button on the title bar of the main www.dvdtalk.com page, the forum dropdowns on that page) are broken to me. As is my usual shortcut that points there. I thought the site had been taken down hard.

The Forum link on videogametalk.com points to www.dvdtalk.com/forum and that seems to be fine.

I'm still here.

Good luck with this Geoff. Obviously the whole thing sucks and I know your busy schedule has been made even worse by this.

There was quite a bit of Islam-bashing going on in the political forum in the thread about the Mohammad cartoons. And we all know how Muslims like to strike back.

I'll do it just for airfare if they live in a nice area. No per diem needed cuz I'm helpful that way.

First time being able to get on the site since the attack started. I'm really bummed that this is happening, Geoff! I really hope that you get it licked or that it just stops. I can't imagine what the problem is that would cause someone to pick this site.

It's after 5pm on the west coast and this is the first time since late last night I've been able to access any forums. Seems okay at the moment, but it did last night too after the same thing. GEOFF, I hope you throttle the fucker responsible if you can find him! Good hunting! (no Cheney reference intended)

Are site owners financially responsible for the bandwidth consumed during a DOS attack?

It's been ok for me most of the day (and all evening) after being unusable yesterday.

This is much better than yesterday. I hope the hacker get caught so we can force them to watch Gigli twice everyday for the rest of their life.

The attack has appeared to have stopped. No idea if we've seen the last of it or not.

Good news. Sorry about all the site problems Geoff. Hopefully you can figure out who did it, and then we can have an Otter meet-up to "kick this person in the nads" game.

Congratulations Geoff. I know you didn't actually do anything to stop the problem, but the site is back and that's good enough for me. Thanks for all the effort this must have taken just to keep things up as much as possible.

Let's just hope we have seen the last of it.

I have a small side question. Is an authorized mod renaming the threads in Otter over and over again, or is it something more sinister?
