Have we ever had a Female Killer theme night?

No, the closest we've had is a female directed theme in 2017.

Here's a couple links courtesy of Letterboxd and IMDB, and I'm sure there's quite a few duplicates between the two:

https://letterboxd.com/kjtenorman/list/heres-to-the-ladies-who-kill-female-killer/detail/genre/horror/ (138 titles)
https://www.imdb.com/search/keyword/...&genres=Horror (130 titles)

I like this but maybe needlessly worry about spoilers; I guess 'female' isn't too big of a clue or too modern a twist.

I also like the idea of Continuous Sequels as a theme (where a followup picks up right where a previous film ended); but cannot find a great source on that.

I think they're called 'immediate sequels', at least that's what some of the trope sites call them.

Army of Darkness
Phantasm II
Aliens
Halloween II...

Martial arts is on the suggestions list but will tack on that IMDB link to it. Eco was covered as 'Natural Horror Films', and it's due for a comeback as a returning theme as it's only been covered once back in 2010. Same for arthouse in 2012. And 'Bigfoots, Yetis & Tiny Terrors' in 2015. Some of these are under so many different names it's hard to tell what we have/haven't done.

Added explosions to post 6.

For 'Extreme Extremities' here's the long fingers list from the tvtropes.org list since there's no way to link the examples section...
Black Swan
Frankenstein
(1910)
The Babadook
Nosferatu
Nosferatu the Vampyre

Subspecies
Dracula
Alien

John Carpenter's The Thing (1982)
The Witches (1990)
Pan's Labyrinth

The Howling
Fright Night
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Shadow of the Vampire
Blade II
Bram Stoker's Dracula
A Nightmare on Elm Street
30 Days of Night

Daybreakers
Van Helsing
They
Vampire's Kiss
Subspecies
House of the Wolf Man
Dracula Untold
What We Do in the Shadows
From Dusk Till Dawn
Blood Of Dracula
Blood Red Sky

And just because ...'finger cut off'...
https://www.imdb.com/search/keyword/...&genres=Horror (78 titles)

Long Fingernails...
https://www.imdb.com/search/keyword/...&genres=Horror (12 titles)
Of course Coffin Joe is there.

Will keep this one in maintenance mode for awhile.

I’m in for a subset pick.

Gialli - separate
Optional - keep

I'm in for a subset pick if someone can remind me what that is. Is it where you pick a specific movie that fits the day's theme?

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 17: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)

Should gialli be separated from slashers in the 'Slashers / Gialli / Serial Killers' theme and made into its own?

a) Yes.
b) No.
c) Other.

I vote yes on this.

Theme Suggestion: Hooded & Cloaked Figures

If not a theme; also a checklist idea.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 17: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)

Back after a brief hiatus that was extended after a 36 hour internet outage...

16 subset spots down, 15 to go.

Hooded & Cloaked Figures is on post 6 and still working on that last batch of suggestions. I'll be posting all the 'new for 2021' suggestions up to this point in here soon as well as a theme voting date.

We're also a little short on anniversaries with just the two so far. Christopher Lee's 100th isn't until next year. Yeah, I got nothing. Please share if you have something because we'll also be using them as checklist entries.

Here is this year's R.I.P. list so far. I'm hoping Joe Bob posts another 'in memoriam' video, which is always helpful. The most up-to-date version can always be found on post 10 until I post the official list in the main thread. I'll post them in order of titles once that one goes up. Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 17: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)

Looks like an opportune time to post this already hyperlinked suggestion that just went up on post 6...

SterlingBen's Fermentation of Fear - Bars / Drunks / Beer / Drinking / Pubs / Ale (1,302 total titles)

Bar - 432 titles
Drunkeness - 348 titles
Drinking - 207 titles
Pub - 96 titles
Ale - 4 titles

Might be a few more alterations coming.

BTW, let me know if you don't want me using your username, just seemed appropriate.

A couple of announcements...

Theme Voting starts Wednesday (July 28).
Gotta keep moving. We're already at last year's new suggestion number of 25, and that's not even including the few that haven't been posted yet. Those will go up soon. Continue sharing if you have any more. Don't forget reminders are always in the wiki.

Gialli and Slashers are now officially separated!
It was unanimous.

Also added Streaming Originals & Exclusives and Extreme Extremities to post 6. With the former it's hard to add 'originals' from Arrow and other labels without turning it into a boutique label theme, and we'll have the crossover theme anyway. The latter (and others) that have lists compiled will have better links if they make the cut.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 17: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)

I'll do a subset again.
