The 15th Annual Holiday Challenge 11/22-1/1
15thAnnualHolidayChallenge
OFFICIAL RULES
-Movies, TV shows/specials, Short Films & Cartoons Count
-The movie or TV show DOES NOT need to be holiday oriented. It could simply take place during the holiday season (i.e. Batman Returns, Gremlins, Die Hard, etc.)
-Although the movie doesn't have to take place during the holiday season, a MAJORITY of the film HAS to take place during the holiday season. No movies with just one scene during the holiday season. If you're not sure, ASK!
-Any holiday from Thanksgiving through New Years Day may count
-A film can only be viewed once, UNLESS you watch it and then watched it again with a commentary
-There is no global goal, shoot for a personal goal. Whatever you want your goal to be go for it. For returning participants maybe your goal should be to beat a previous year's goal.
-Again, like past years there will be a THREE Wild Card option to include movies or TV shows you might watch during the holiday season that is not holiday oriented. My family used to watch Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory every Christmas. So anything is allowed, up to 3.
-Specials such as the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, New Years Rockin' Eve, etc. can count, but you MUST watch the entire special in order to count it.
-PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE number your lists! If you do not number your list it will not count towards the challenge
-It doesn't matter how you see the film, VHS, DVD, Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, Laserdisc, Theatrical release, it can be counted. Just have fun.
-The challenge will begin at dusk on Friday November 22 2019 and will end at dawn on Thursday January 2, 2020.

Thanks for starting the thread and stepping up to run the challenge. I'm in but don't know how much I can watch yet. You are missing a picture of a Christmas Tree so here's a good one.

My daughter is already listening to Christmas music so hopefully I can recruit her to participate in some holiday viewing with me.

Is this the list thread or the discussion thread? Either way, I'm in...

I have to ask is Santa with Muscles really that bad? It just got released on bluray and was thinking of buying it on the cheap.

I watched most of Hogan's films growing up. I don't think I watched this one. Looks like Mila Kunis made her film debut and it was financed by the guy who was the subject of Wolf of Wall Street.

Thank you! I randomly stumbled upon this forum's October Horror Movie Challenge like last year and I've always wanted to participate but I've had busy Octobers the past 2 years. I'm currently on leave at my job due to mental health issues though, and right now all I need more than ever is some holiday cheer so I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to jump in and join one of these things.

They can be quite fun. We are usually so busy in December that I've gotten to where I just do what I can in this one [church - major choral performance - 2 practices per week since October and up until the first of 3 performances, JR HS (choir & band concerts), SR HS (band concert), 2 grandkid birthdays (in the same week), and more].

If you have Amazon prime, IMDb has a channel with free movies and tv shows with ads. All 9 seasons of The Middle are free to watch and I'm pretty sure they did a Thanksgiving and Christmas episode every year.

I woke up this morning and found out that the radio station I listen to has started Christmas music. It’s beginning to feel like the holiday season now.

Ugh, too early for Christmas music on the radio! I only sometimes listen to the radio on the way to work. Usually have my own music to listen to, but I appreciate that my local station doesn't play it until Thanksgiving.

We've started injecting a Christmas song every service at Church - mainly because the *huge* tree is up (we do a "Living Christmas Tree" every year and the tree goes up the first Sunday in November - it's a bit over 30' tall). We have 2 practices for that every week, 1 1/2 hr. each, and in the car I'm constantly listening to the performance tracks for the program to memorize the material. I'm always happy when that's over so I can start listening to the "Christmas" music I want (usually classical choral material). This year that'll be December 8th. I'll cram as much Christmas music in as possible but I have too large of a collection to be able to get to it all. I've been known to listen to some favorites in the middle of summer.

Wow, that came up fast! I usually just fly by the seat of my pants, but there's a few I've been putting off 'til the challenge started. I suspect my first watch is going to be The Nightmare Before Christmas. I try to watch that either for Halloween or Christmas and I missed it at Halloween.

It's a cheap bluray and I'm always looking for new movies to watch to give some variety to my list.

Kicked things off today with Home Alone (1990). Never seen the whole thing from beginning to end, only snippets here and there and god I love this movie. Hits all the right notes for me, classic with a capital C.

Wow you've never seen the whole movie. I saw it in theaters as a kid and many times on VHS.

What can I say, I'm pretty young (only 19) and the only times I've seen it were on TV and it was always at the point where the burglars break in, so I hadn't seen the first 45 minutes.
