There's a ton of free to watch movies on VUDU if anyone is looking for some new material to watch for the challenge. There'll probably add even more holiday movies once its December 1st.

I didn't get to watch anything yesterday, but am starting out by putting Disney+ to use by watching Noelle.
By the way, with the new formatting, I'm having trouble resizing letters. Any tips? I've tried plugging the code into it the old way, but that doesn't seem to work anymore.

Re: The 15th Annual Holiday Challenge 11/22-1/1
^Yeah, I've done that in the past and with this one, but the other day, it just stopped working...my already sized letters reduced themselves despite me not touching them during an edit.
^EDIT: Nevermind. I figured it out. Apparently, only 1-6 numbers work. I had 7 before. Anything higher than that shrinks it back down to size 1...
Anyway, I'm really getting into the Christmas movie spirit this year. Watching some childhood favorites that I've not seen in a long time. Makes me miss when Christmas was magical back then.

Pretty accurate description of the movie and added blood to a few clips.

If you are sad the Horror Challenge is over, Pilgrim on Hulu dishes up some gore for your Thanksgiving table. It's about a family that invites some Mayflower reenactors into their home for Thanksgiving, but the Pilgrim cosplayers decide to take their Puritan roles way too far.

Pet Peeve in movies: Masses of people laughing at someone being humiliated. I'm watching Home Alone 2 right now, at the part where Buzz is using the candles to mess with Kevin during the school play. The entire audience is sitting there laughing at a 12 year old being made fun of...Another example in a non-holiday movie is in The Karate Kid, where Daniel gets the spaghetti spilled on him at the country club and the entire room points and laughs at him. I mean, is this realistic? Has anyone ever actually seen this happen? And who are these nasty people all gathered in place to laugh at the misfortune of others? These scenes take me out of the movie. Rant over...

Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate it. And letting folks know that I requested a sticky on the list thread.

I discovered through someone on my friend list on Xbox last night that Pluto TV is on Xbox One now. There are quite a few Christmas specials and movies available on demand, as well as holiday channels. I’m happy that I have My Outdoor TV as well, as there are always holiday episodes of outdoor shows on there. I just finished an episode of Heartland Bowhunter on there about an annual Thanksgiving hunt.

I watched Planes Trains and Automobiles this morning and I'll finish up today with the rest of the Roseanne Thanksgiving episodes. After that it'll all be Christmas viewing for me.

Well I’m giving in and watching Home Alone. It’s been a few years since I’ve watched it. My favorite scene is when Kevin and Old Man Marley meet in church. Also Kevin could have been Jigsaw in training as a kid.

Signed up for the Hulu Black Friday deal, and broke it in with their original Pilgrim. Decent Thanksgiving horror, but I think I wasn’t really in the mood for the genre.

I just finished watching 2018's A Grinch. I'm a huge fan of the original TV special but hated Jim Carrey's version. The story line follows the original much better than the live version. Obviously they had to add to the plot to fill the time, but thought the additions fit in much more than the live action.
They did add several classic Christmas songs to the original songs which was welcome.
Overall, I liked it, but it's not going to become something I watch every year. But, I'm not disappointed to add this to my Christmas movie collection.

I don't know if we ever discussed it here but would Rocky IV be considered a Christmas movie?

I'd not heard of this one (but then my TV hasn't been connected to anything but disc players and game systems for ~3 years and I don't watch "live" TV of any type). Looks interesting and Amazon has it on sale for ~$8 (apparently a PM for WM). I broke down and ordered a copy of the "Ultimate Edition" of the original How the Grinch Stole Christmas (BB has it on sale for $6 - couldn't resist the upgrade). It should be here in a few days. I, too, dislike the Jim Carrey/Ron Howard version.

Yeah, came out last Christmas and I didn't really want to see it but when I saw it for 8 bucks, had to do a blind buy. I also have been telling myself for a week not to buy the UE of the original. I have the BR of it, but not the DC and it would be cheaper to buy the UE than just the DC. I hate double dipping and I already have 3 versions of the Grinch (2 DVD sets and the one BR). I've been using streaming a lot more lately which is why I'd kind of like the digital copy, but I can't convince myself that it's woIrth buying the same thing for a 3rd time. If I didn't have the BR already, it'd be a different story.

According to a review here on DVDTalk it's
...almost identical to its previous release with the addition of two loosely-related specials: Halloween is Grinch Night (1977) and The Grinch Grinches the Cat in the Hat (1982), both of which have been newly restored for their Blu-ray debut.

I'd not have sprung for it myself if I already had one of the prior BR releases.
According to a review here on DVDTalk it's
So... if you want those extra specials it might be worth another dip. I've never seen them so don't know if they'll be worth repeat viewings. It's $9 right now at both Amazon and BB (with free shipping at BB). I'd already ordered at that price when I saw the BF ads so cancelled it and waited for the lower BF price.

Oh, I didn't know that they added those specials...but I do have them on a DVD release. At one point there was a Dr. Seuss release that had all of his cartoon shorts/specials on it. The Lorax, The Sneetches, those Grinch ones and several more. Not sure it's available anymore. The Grinch ones are worth watching, but obviously, the Christmas one is the best.

All my kids DVDs are boxed right now so I can't check to be 100% sure. If I don't own a copy I know I've looked at it several times with an eye towards making the purchase.

You know... I may own a copy of that one with all the shorts/specials. If it's this one, the cover looks very familiar:

What is everyone's opinion on The Polar Express? I think this was my second viewing. The first time I watched it, I was so enthralled by the train ride on the Express and was finding myself mesmerized by the whole movie...until they got to the North Pole. Then, I was bored and the movie felt like it dragged when they got to the North Pole. What had started as a 5 star movie for me quickly fell to about a 3. So, this was my second try all these years later...and did I have the same reaction? Well, yes and no... To me, this movie captures the spirit of the holiday more than any movie or show I've watched. The setting of Christmas Eve, the atmosphere with the snow falling, the scenery of snowmen and Christmas lights, the music, the magic of the North Pole, the haunting dream-like aspect of childhood Christmas, etc. are all here. But, wow, that portion where they're at the North Pole and digging around in the presents just drags... other than that, I did enjoy the Santa Claus appearance more this time and the return trip home. If only that one section of the movie was gone, it'd be almost perfect. Still, I did enjoy this second viewing more...
