Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 15: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)
Assigned a few more dates to themes. See post 7.
Just added Litterboxd / Devil Dogs to 10/29 (Tuesday), which is National Cat Day 2019 (sorry, dog day is 8/27). If for whatever reason another theme needs to occupy that spot we can move it to 10/27 - National Black Cat Day (not to be confused with 'Black Cat Appreciation Day' on 8/17). Unfortunately National Litter Box Cleaning Day was in May. Attached Heavy Metal Movies to The Mass Marathon of the Damned on 10/26 (Saturday). Parties would also be a good fit if chosen, but they were already paired up in 2017. |

I'll volunteer for a subset pick if you fail to make numbers. I am unsure how much of the challenge I will be able to complete this year with baby no 2 due the start of October. I will be squeezing in as much horror as I can - I have a huge horror to watch pile :)

Also another reminder we still need 10 subset volunteers. We've been stuck there for awhile. |

Congratulations on the baby! That's exciting. Our second kid seemed like a lot more to handle at first but once my oldest (3.5 years older) adjusted more it worked well and today they end up entertaining each other some. Good luck.

The winners of the elimination round...
NEW Fog-Infested Horror Films The 50 Best Horror Films You've Never Seen RETURNING Horror Parties Retail Establishment Another year of unexpected outcomes. There were no tie-breakers this time that had to be settled via Random.org. Horror Parties was the highest vote-getter, and that's despite me initially forgetting to include it. 50 Best and Fog-Infested were a tie for the top spot (in new), and barely edged out The Four Seasons of Death. And if you're unhappy The 40th Anniversary of Fangoria didn't make the cut, it'll still be on the anniversary category of the checklist. Same goes for any of the others. |
Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 15: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)
I'll have this year's theme list up tomorrow for comments. I also hope to have the subset construction up and going by Friday (or Saturday at the latest) so we can jump right into that.
Once again, and I realize I'm starting to sound like a broken record -- we still need 10 subset volunteers. |
Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 15: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)
Hey Chad.
I'd said I would volunteer as a back up for a subset if numbers weren't achieved. Would be more than happy to step up though. Wish it were challenge time already! |
Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 15: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)
Thought this might be useful:
If the letterboxd link is correct for the 50 Horror Movies You've Never Seen (and there's no human error on my part) - then there are 33 movies that have not been previously used as subset picks. Alice Sweet Alice (1976) Alone in the Dark (1982) Alone With Her (2006) Audition (1999) Basket Case (1982) Beast Within, The (1982) Black Christmas (1974) Brides of Dracula, The (1960) Burnt Offerings (1976) Castle Freak (1995) Don't Be Afraid of the Dark (1973) Feast (2005) Food of the Gods, The (1976) Fury, The (1978) Grace (2009) Hard Candy (2005) Hatchet (2006) Humanoids From the Deep (1980) Hunger, The (1983) Joshua (2007) Lemora: A Child's Tale of the Supernatural (1973) May (2002) Near Dark (1987) Night of the Hunter, The (1955) Prophecy (1979) Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) Slither (2006) Slumber Party Massacre, The (1982) Valentine (2001) Visiting Hours (1982) When a Stranger Calls (1979) Wishmaster (1997) Wrong Turn (2003) |
Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 15: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)
I'e been trying to sort my watch list into theme nights that match, but my watch list has way too many items (over 180, how'd that happen?) so I'm just going to try to quit being organized.
