Should we add Sid Haig to the actor checklist if a more fitting tribute cannot occur at this late hour? He could maybe replace Oliver Reed. Making the preliminary suggestion we have a Sid Haig theme day next year.

I had a thought about the Director category. There does seem to be any women on it, but I don't know a female director with enough films to be eligible. How would people feel about filling the last place with something along the lines of "Watch a movie directed by a female director"? That may be more of something to incorporate elsewhere next year, but I thought I'd throw that out.

If you need 1 more writer, how about Wesley Strick ?

mrcellophane, I actually had a very similar thought. So I support this idea. And thank you for bringing it up!

I like this idea for the 10th director spot or under Watch 3 Films You Haven't Seen Before.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 15: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)
We're practically there.
Unless I'm mistaken we just like four entries under the "Watch 3 films that you've never seen before that" category. |
Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 15: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)
Here're some ideas to help finish out the "Watch 3 films that you've never seen before that" category:
--features a giant insect --was made in Italy --features a character who has a premonition --is listed on the Film Registry of the National Film Preservation Board --features time travel --was shot in Alabama (next year, Alaska, then Arizona, Arkansas…) |

Hey Chad, I noticed that Dick Miller is in two spots: under Actors and Recently Deceased. Should he be in two spots? I think we could delete him in Actors and keep him in the Recently Deceased. What do you think?

We're now at under 100 hours to go. Are we ready to roll?

I've been so ready for the last 5 weeks!

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 15: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)
Kind of ready. Been working on the checklist. Have a big race most of Saturday, so that gives me Sunday to find everything. Easy....

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 15: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)
Not at all ready. Haven’t done my usual pre-planning the checklist and pre-buying the subset films. Definitely doing the subsets and mostly theme compliance and 100-115 count this year, but think I’ll completely ignore the checklist for a change.

I'm ready to buy some Subset films but I can't find the temp list.

It was posted in the discussion thread this time. And that's in no particular order, but I'll have the hybrid table up either tonight or tomorrow anyway. |

Every year I struggle with how much to prepare and follow the themes/subset/checklist, or to just relax and wing it. A couple years I’ve been super-prepared, and the others are more a compromise leaning towards the lists. This year, I’ll be more relaxed and “off book”, and that may become my norm. I still love all the lists and think they add a lot to the month, but need to keep my OCD in check to some degree. |
