I've been eyeing that BR of Batman:TAS but the DVDs look pretty good so I don't know that I'll upgrade. If I do, it'll be later after the price comes down and they issue a regular (non box-of-junk) set.

I wanted to watch something short to continue my streak, so I picked Wonder Woman (2009) as it was about 70 minutes long, plenty of time to fit it in tonight still. Plus, it's a new to me watch.
I have to say, I'm a bit disgusted with Steve's behavior. I'm confused why they made him so unlikable and almost nonredeemable as a decent human being. Is he on the side of right? Sure, but if I was Diana, I'd get rid of him pretty darn quickly for all his sexist comments. The live action movie treated him much better and given the time period it was set in, was a lot more understandable. This one seems to be taking place in "modern" times so there is no using that as an excuse!

I just finished a retrospective documentary on the impact of Transformers: The Movie that was included on the 30th Anniversary Blu Ray. A few things really caught my eye. First thing was when it first showed Neil Ross, I said to myself, I know that face. I couldn’t place it though. Keep in mind he was a voice actor, so I know I must have seen him do live acting. Second, near the end of the documentary, the people were talking about how it was the love from the fans that kept Transformers alive to this day, illustrating the point by having various people in the documentary talking about their BotCon experiences. That reminded me of one of the BotCons I went to, Fort Wayne, I believe. Anyways, I was just sitting on a bench outside the hotel after I had gotten my room the day before it opened. A man came up to my bench and asked if I minded if he sat down. We got to talking and he asked my name. After I told him, he put out his hand and said, ‘Nice to meet you Joel. I’m Peter Spellos.’ I was floored, as not only was he Sky Byte in Transformers: Robots In Disguise , but he also had a small role in Men In Black 2, as the subway driver. Later that same year after the NBC series, American Dreams started, he had a recurring role as the TV Station manager. I’ll never forget how nice he was and so down to earth.

I finished off Black Lagoon. I wished it had ended after S2 as I really didn't feel the Roberta's Blood episodes at all. Thankfully it was only 5 episodes long season.

Someone else may have already said it, but Christopher Robin was fantastic. I had kept my expectations in check and found myself blown away.

Same here. The trailer is great at revealing almost nothing really. I went in expecting little and loved it from beginning to end. Incredibly funny and quite emotional at times. Best Disney in awhile for me.

All this talk about Christopher Robin is making me want to see it! I think I'm going to do a double feature on Tuesday (tomorrow) since it's $5 Tuesday. I might change my mind, but I really want to see that one and The Incredibles 2.
Check list addition idea for Actor/Actress: Don Messick. I could have sworn he was already on the list but he's not there unless I'm missing it.

I just finished my re-watch of Daria and it still holds up. If they're going to reboot it and keep Daria in high school, all they really have to do is give Jodie more to do and they're set. There're not a whole lot that feels dated.

Just a reminder that the Beatles' animated film, YELLOW SUBMARINE, is available for viewing on Amazon Prime. This year is the 50th anniversary of its release.

My first introduction to the Lupin The Third character and his gang was through The Castle of Cagliostro, a movie that I love and rewatch at least once a year. It has only been recently that I'm becoming aware of the disparity of the characterization of Lupin and his cohorts in Cagliostro compared to how they act and behave in the actual manga and the TV series and movies. That was very naive of me but Cagliostro has that hint of inappropriateness in Clarisse's affection to Lupin and the Count treatment of Clarisse. The portrayal of Fujiko Mine is the big contrast in which I think it can be attributed to Miyazaki. In Cagliostro, she does not utilize her best assets like she does in the other series and movies.
I read that the initial reaction to this movie was lukewarm at best and no wonder. If you were a fan of the manga and early TV series, Cagliostro would had felt like a big slap on the faces of their fans.
Even with knowing the back story, I still fond of this movie even though is not a true representation of Lupin the Third.

I did end up going to both The Incredibles 2 and Christopher Robin this afternoon. I enjoyed both, but CR more than I2. Incredibles had a fairly predictable plot but still was fun to watch. The short in front was good too, Bao. This short was aimed more for adults but I would think kids would enjoy it, just wouldn't necessarily get all the meaning from it.
Christopher Robin was very heartwarming; it hits you in the feels. I totally agree with the others that this was unexpectedly a wonderful movie. Though, I would also say this wasn't written for kids, this was written for adults who grew up watching Disney and Winnie the Pooh and who now have kids and jobs and responsibilities. I'm not saying kids wouldn't enjoy parts of it, but a lot of it will go over their heads. There were a few younger kids, toddler age-range that were in the theater and they got a bit restless in parts.
The animation of Pooh and friends is well done, I didn't see any glaring CGI failures and they interact a lot with the real world and people.
If you were thinking about either of them, I would recommend both, though Christopher Robin was my favorite.

I just finished a late night viewing of Your Name. I've heard only generalities about this one, just that it was very good and that's about it. It popped up in one of the icheckmovies animation lists, so I borrowed it from my local library. I really enjoyed it. The animation is beautiful. The story is semi-familiar; I was reminded of The Lake House a few times, to be honest, but I thought it was well done.
In terms of animation, this anime is one of the most breathtaking one that I ever seen. The mix of CGI and hand drawn animation especially the sky and vista shots, are phenomenal.

I just finished watching this early today and I was not disappointed. As indicated by LJG765, the plot borrows from familiar themes, series and movies but it's very heartfelt and the two main characters are very likeable that you feel their pain and struggle. I won't say much more than that since I think the movie is very good and needs to be watched. This is the highest grossing anime of all time.

Re-watched The Secret of NIMH last night and I continue to love that film. Dom DeLuise is just hilarious. I have often wondered why there isn't an Oscar for voice acting. It seems like there would be enough roles to sustain nominations each year.

Finished off Disenchanted yesterday and am looking forward to the back-half of season one or season two, whatever they're calling the next ten episodes. Am also approaching the middle of Kaiba, which is very good and really melancholy. SuperMansion is a fun picker-upper after Kaiba. Pondering what to plug into Disenchanted's place. I'm holding off on The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle since I've only got three episodes left. I'll watch it next week. Puella Magi Madoka Magica is on Crunchyroll, so I think I'll start that.

I’m making good progress on Transformers G1. I’m on Season 3 now, which introduced a whole slew of new characters. Unfortunately at the expense of killing off some very popular characters. I’m on pace to reach my goal for the series, which is to start the Japanese series.

Ok, it took a bit of time but it's official! GoldenWheels and Hamiltonbooks are sponsoring prizes for the challenge!
I also asked and the format will be a little different than usual. The 3 winners will be given a price limit ($15-$17) to use to pick out their own prizes.
Please note that will have to have an address in the United States to be eligible for prizes.
Thanks to GoldenWheels and Hamiltonbooks!!
I agree with this-especially with so many live action films use CGI for more and more characters (Groot, Gollum) in addition to "normal" animated movies.

I decided to sit outside and watch TV on my tablet today, since it was a beautiful day. I have plenty of streaming options between owning quite a few digital copies of various series, and other apps that have shows to stream. I felt like some Batman, so I watched the next episode of Batman: TAS, which introduced Mister Freeze. He seems like an honorable villain, perhaps because he has no emotions, or as the episode title says, heart of ice. He only wanted to pay back the man who ruined both the life of him and his wife.

One nice thing about watching cartoons on regular tv is the toy commercials. They are not at all the same commercials I grew up with, but watching them brings back fond memories of watching cartoons on weekends and after school when I was a boy.

I just finished The Return Of Optimus Prime. Wow, Sunbow really went all out on that episode. Not only was the animation on par with the movie, but they even had the budget to include Stan Bush's The Touch in the episode.

I used to love to watch toy commercials as a kid. I have to say now, though, they just don't hold the same appeal. Not sure if it's because they changed or if I did, but it's just not the same!

I have a late question on the checklist. I have always watched foreign films in their language reading their subtitles. This year our good friends at Netflix decided to dub some of their french foreign films which has messed up my checklist plans. If the film is listed as French in the IMDB and shows only being in French and then a provider puts it in english does it still qualify since you are still getting a foreign animated film?

This month has gone by quickly -- trying to finish Gatchaman Fighter and checklist this week.
