I liked the guy that played the original Burke Devlin but you could tell he didn't want to be at the reunion show in the special features of that set. I almost want to go back and watch the beginning again because I didn't know how drunk he was on the set.
Thanks for the info on wolf man! Are they redoing all the legacy stuff in blu-ray with all the same films from the dvd releases?

And portrayed by Julie Hagerty in Reversal of Fortune. But yeah, she's pretty wooden on the show. In one of her interviews she claims she was asked back after her pregnancy, and declined after they shot down her idea of making her character "possessed".
I bought the LE set back when in 2012, but just started watching back in February. Currently on episode 560 something, so not even half done, although close to being Vicki-free.

Danny Horn is an awesome writer and adores the show as much as he makes fun of it. He is good about not spoiling too much so I tend to watch an episode or two and then when done I read his blog on those episodes.

And we're up to 21 subset volunteers.
What can I say, it's addictive. Easily the most addictive show I've ever had the pleasure of viewing.
I'm a reader, and it is beyond awesome.
I recommend to you both (and anyone else reading this who is watching or has watched Dark Shadows in the past) this blog:

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 12: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
Today being International Cat Day got me to thinking about last year's theme Bats, Cats and Rats, which we synced with National Cat Day in October. And that reminded me that we need to decide on the mainstays ...the themes that are permanent(ish).
Here's the usual ones minus the hyperlinks:
Right now I need to know the fate of the following themes, and preferably before we kickoff voting:
1. The European Passport to Terror.
This one replaced the long-running "Asian Buffet of Tantalizing Terrors" last year. Like that one, it covers an entire continent (links on post 1), so it's not as if the well's gonna run dry anytime soon.
_______________________________________________________________
2. Chronological Horror Years Faceoff (25th vs. 50th Anniversary)
We've used this one for the past 3 years and this year it would be...
1966 (Gold) Vs. 1991 (Silver)
Manos is #1 for 1966; what the hell?
_______________________________________________________________
3. 1980's Video Companies Spotlight: [INSERT COMPANY HERE] (from this list)
This one's been around for the last two years and it syncs with International Independent Video Store Day on 10/15, which just happens to be on a Saturday. Personally I think it's more important than ever to continue this one due to the untimely death of the VCR and the VHS format. It will serve as a memorial. Plus it just so happens to be representative of a certain overall theme of this year's challenge that you'll find out about later.
Also, we picked Vestron last year, and now Lionsgate is releasing Vestron titles on Blu-ray. The same thing happened with the Criterion pick. Coincidence? I think not.
_______________________________________________________________
4. Drive-In Double Features.
This one has also been used twice, although it became a tacked on theme to the Mass Marathon of the Damned last year since there was no official linked theme there. Drive-In flicks make the best marathon viewing, right?
DEAD.
_______________________________________________________________
Again, I'd appreciate if everyone could let me know what you think so we can keep moving along and get to the main voting next.
And just for the record, we're currently well ahead of last year's thread pace, which I didn't even post until 8/11.

I also agree that we should keep all of the mainstays in... but if - IF - it was decided to remove one of them, I'd be OK with "Drive-IN Double Features" being removed.
I've always enjoyed your inclusion of the beer!

My 5 favorites from the new themes suggestions are: Fanaticism/religious horror, modern horror films, fangoria chainsaw awards, babysitters, extraterrestrial.
I like the mainstays. Also I enjoy European (or Asian) theme (although it seems like we should rotate continents, maybe South America now [?]).
I agree with nixing 'Drive in Double Feature,' it's far too vague. Maybe it's just hard for me to relate to the idea of 'drive ins' but I don't feel like the theme captures the 'spirit' it's suppose to and a lot of times searching around for pairings feels awkward (often movies are un-related, technically you only have to watch one, etc).I like this 'Sick Game' theme idea...

This got me thinking, how about Sick Games as a theme, movies like Would You Rather? where the game is what the plot revolves around.

Yeah, that was an odd switch of actors. I got used to him but it really was two completely different styles of actor for the same character. Like Shatner being replaced by someone like Patrick Stewart but they still called him Kirk.
I'm probably in the minority but I thought the story with Barnabas kidnapping Maggie went on way too long. I was getting tired of it before they switched the episodes to alternate between the kidnapping stuff and everything else.

Looking forward to watching Universal Monster Movies in Blu Ray. Got my copy of the Blu Ray collection today, along with the Frankenstein Legacy Collection, in DVD, so I can have all of the Frankenstein movies.
