Mary Poppins

- Picked up the 40th Anniv. Collection from gohastings. It's been bugging me since I read that the newer 45th is missing bonus content like footage from the premiere. Newer isn't always better.

Border Patrol (1943) - Very surprised to see a bit part by what looked like a young Robert Mitchum in this Hopalong Cassidy film. Just looked on IMDB and it was Mitchum, in his screen debut. Score! Also an appearance by George Reeves before he learned to fly.

Re: Last DVD you watched?

I've watched very little of anything all month, owing to either two consecutive Crohn's flares, or one that was only partially under control before getting bad again. Anyway, today I spent an hour and watched George Strait Live! which is a Walmart exclusive DVD issue of Strait's 1987 New Year's Eve concert video. I have it on VHS, and was thrilled to finally be able to upgrade to a disc. The audio was great, but the video was mediocre. I suspect it's the source material, though, and not that Universal just didn't care. There were, however, a few awkward transitions from one song to the next, like the chapter transitioning wasn't as seamless as it should have been. Not sure if that's the disc, my specific copy, my Blu-ray player being a snob toward playing DVDs again or what. Still, I'm pleased to no longer have to deal with the VCR and fear of the tape being eaten to enjoy this old concert.

Gone Baby Gone - This is really a great film! I've watched it before but my wife wanted to see it and to tell you the truth it was better the 2nd time around even though I knew the outcome-
