The Middleman (2008 TV)
This was a blind buy after seeing recommendations in a DD sale thread. I have watched the first 5 episodes so far and am finding it very entertaining. It somehow reminds me a bit of Due South.

Murder Set Pieces
Really solid SFX from Toe Tag Pictures and a nice showcase of their work. Not much to see other than that.
Also maybe it was just a coincidence, but did Nick Palumbo lift a scene from Haute Tension?
Referencing your previous films (several times in a row) in your own film is also a little silly.

12 January: Finally watched Blood Diamond from Netflix. It was taut and well done, but already knowing as much as I did about the situation lessened the shock factor somewhat. Djimon Hounsou was perfect in it.

Conspiracy
the HBO film starring Kenneth Branagh and Stanley Tucci
there was a conference where a bunch of Nazi officials decided upon the Final Solution
this movie is a dramatization of that conference. All it is, is Nazis talking and arguing
Really well done, great acting

14 January: Funny People - Extended Version (Redbox rental). We wanted to see it during its theatrical run but, for whatever reason(s), didn't. I can see why others felt misled by its promotional campaign (it was much more of a drama than a comedy), but I loved it. I thought Sandler showed great range and some surprising nuance.
