OFFICIAL RULES
-Movies, TV shows/specials, Short Films & Cartoons Count
-The movie or TV show DOES NOT need to be holiday oriented. It could simply take place during the holiday season (i.e. Batman Returns, Gremlins, Die Hard, etc.)
-Although the movie doesn't have to take place during the holiday season, a MAJORITY of the film HAS to take place during the holiday season. No movies with just one scene during the holiday season. If you're not sure, ASK!
-Any holiday from Thanksgiving through New Years Day may count
-A film can only be viewed once, UNLESS you watch it and then watched it again with a commentary
-There is no global goal, shoot for a personal goal. Whatever you want your goal to be go for it. For returning participants maybe your goal should be to beat a previous year's goal.
-Again, like past years there will be a THREE Wild Card option to include movies or TV shows you might watch during the holiday season that is not holiday oriented. My family used to watch Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory every Christmas. So anything is allowed, up to 3.
-Specials such as the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, New Years Rockin' Eve, etc. can count, but you MUST watch the entire special in order to count it.
-PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE number your lists! If you do not number your list it will not count towards the challenge
-It doesn't matter how you see the film, VHS, DVD, Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, Laserdisc, Theatrical release, it can be counted. Just have fun.
-The challenge will begin at midnight on Saturday November 21, 2015 and will end at dawn on Saturday January 2, 2016

I only participate in two challenges, and this is one of the them. Thanks for the links above!

I have already been watching Christmas movies, with working for amazon it destroys your christmas spirit, and it helps me feel good and happy about something. I am sorry I completely missed out last year, but will do my best to put together a list this year. I still have no idea how you watched 509 movies and tv shows in 2007 Trevor.

There is some advantages of working for Amazon during christmas as opposed to being a retail manager in a big box store. The christmas season lasted more than three months working at Kmart, for Amazon its about three weeks. But the week of thanksgiving I should have at least four days off, and of christmas it will be five days. I should have plenty of time to watch some movies and tv shows. I hope I can get to somewhere between 50 and 100 this year.

I have fun recommendation for those going through the horror challenge as well as it being a Christmas movie called Elves. Quite possibly the worst Christmas horror movie I've ever seen, its on the level of Troll 2 bad.

Seems early for the holidays, but I'm looking forward to this challenge! One of my favorite seasons and types of movies and shows. I'm a sucker for sappy cheesy holiday goodness. Now, if only I lived somewhere where it was warm during this time of year, it'd be perfect!

I only wish I still had a DVR. But it doesn't mean I won't watch some of the movies on before the challenge begins.

I'm bad at this one because I can't do a genre search in my collection like I can with other challenges.

I typically only really participate in two Challenges, horror and holiday; and both are genres that I've always kept physically separated in my collection.

I love my DVR. I used to do the same with the old VCR, but now I don't have to remember to change the tape! My only real complaint is that I can only tape specific things within a 2 week period as that is only how far the guide goes into the future. A series isn't a problem, but if it's just a movie, you have to remember to tape it when it finally appears. I ended up bookmarking the Hallmark movie guide that was posted earlier in the thread to help me remember to go through around Halloween and start taping them for the challenge...

Since we're about a month out, I'd like to again bring up the suggestion of moving the start date to Friday, November 20. This will give us at least one weekend to view Thanksgiving fare.

For those that like to note Anniversaries, November 25 will mark the 50th anniversary of the Thanksgiving dinner that sets the events of ALICE'S RESTAURANT in motion (November 25, 1965).

For those with Roku, I don't know the name of the channel, but there is a channel that airs Hallmark programming.

If you like family-friendly heartwarming movies, it's a pretty good service. There's just a few hundred titles, but they're all decent. The Hallmark Hall of Fame movies are often hard to find, so if you like those it's worth it.
They always have a selection of Holiday movies. Here's the current list:
A Christmas Visitor
All I Want for Christmas (2007)
The Christmas Card
Picking Up and Dropping Off
Lovely, Still
A Heartland Christmas
The Christmas Box
A Christmas Carol (2004 w/Kelsey Grammer)
One Christmas
The Gift of Love
Christmas with Holly
Holiday in Your Heart
Off Season
The Night They Saved Christmas
Silent Night
A Season For Miracles
Silver Bells
A Dog Named Christmas
November Christmas
Fallen Angel
A Christmas Visitor

Its up to The Monkees, but I would be interested in starting November 20, it would help me out with my current schedule.

I think I had a dream about this challenge. All I remember is seeing some set of movies and thinking, this will make that challenge super easy to find stuff to watch. Now I can't remember if I was actually looking at some stuff in real life and thought this or it was really a dream.
