And I wonder if I was the only one that thought Next of Kin was that Patrick Swayze movie.

BTW, Chad, if you already had a certain poster for Pet Sematary's discussion thread planned, then discard this. But if you're open for alternatives:
Spoiler:

EDIT-Cool! Looks like you had the same poster in mind!

A few challenges back there was a lot of discussion about Next of Kin. Every search I did only returned the Swayze flick. I had a devil of a time finding it on IMDB, but did end up finding it on Youtube. I was starting to think the discussion really was about the Patrick Swazye movie.

Yeah.. thats where i figured the screw up came from. I just figured someone else suggested We live in the shadows and should get credit for it. Personally it doesn't bother me if I dont get a suggestion in. My theme night basicallywas scrapped so the Subset pick is along the same lines at this point. Always next year.

I *think* I know what happened. Your original suggestion was already given by someone else at the time. I try to make the order they were given take precedence, although it unfortunately doesn't always work out that way. Normally I would've asked for more suggestions since it was already taken, but you made yours around the time people were voting for the comedy crossover. What We Do was getting votes at the time and somehow your name became associated with that one as your pick. Don't ask me how. I even have it written down under your name on the printed paper I use for the subsets.

Anyway, Tucker and Dale was also getting plenty of votes for comedy. In an effort to try and accommodate both, I moved A Girl Walks to crazy love (it was on the list link), which freed up the vampire spot to move what I thought was your pick there and, well, there you go. So, at the very least we know that film wasn't actually another persons pick, but voting for the comedy crossover.

That said, I'll be more than happy to change it if you have something else in mind.

Not nitpicking or anything, but the posters that are on the discussion threads for Night of the Demon and Dr. Terror's House of Horrors don't match those movies.

The poster up for Dr. Terror is actually one from From Beyond the Grave.

Just sayin'.

And the other one is from Jess Franco's A Virgin Among the Living Dead, which I should've known. FBTG I almost used on the banner.

Is Night of the Demon an alternate title for AVATLD? It mentions nothing on the IMDB.

This is a nice poster, but had to go with the Christopher Lee one:

Anyway, Thanks. They're fixed.

We need picks from the following:
  • Dick Laurent

And they need to be from the following unclaimed themes:
  • Made-for-TV Horror Movies & Horror Mini-Series ("The Midnight Hour" was used for a different theme, FYI)

You can still pick films already chosen as suggestions if you want.

Link to theme nights if you need the links.

And yes, the pun was intended.

Sorry about that. Was in hospital a couple days. I will make my pick tonight (I presume it still needs to be filled).

The "On Youtube" link for the Dance of the Dead discussion thread points to a different movie - Day of the Dead (2008) . Currently I am finding a 2.99 youtube rental and also multiple links on Stagevu for this movie. Just Thought I would let you know.

Thanks. I definitely posted the wrong link, but there was one up with the full film that must've been pulled.

(Regarding other subset picks) For those of you (U.S. folks) who have a lot of the premium movie-channels, both Dance/Dead & In/Madness will air on TMAX in early October (Probably will be On Demand too) and Stigmata is airing on the 26th of this month on Encore-Suspense. I'll keep an eye out if more of them pop up.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 11 Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl

Appreciate the thoughts. Still need to have some surgeries but for the most part doing okay.

My choice for Made-for-TV is Bad Ronald.

I've been wanting to watch this for a while now. Had been waiting for a quality version to surface, but looks like that's not gonna happen anytime soon. I do have the Warner Archive version which looks like the best we'll get for the unforeseeable future.

Also streaming on Daily Motion. It is available on multiple other "free" streaming sites, but I cannot speak to the stability of any but Daily Motion's, which looks decent and doesn't require a sign-up or e-mail.

If a second choice is needed I'll throw Devil Dog: Hound of Hell (also haven't seen) in the ring.

Italian director Mario Caiano just passed away this week. He only directed a handful of horror eligible titles but he'd be okay for a listing with 2 choices.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 11 Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl

For the Select 10 Actors, how about "one of The Avengers". Each of them only has 1-2 horror credits. But when you put them together it's a decent list.

Silent House, Cabin in the Woods, Eight Legged Freaks, Gothika, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, 28 Weeks Later, Legion, Priest, 1408, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Robert Downey Jr
Chris Hemsworth
Mark Ruffalo
Scarlett Johansson
Jeremy Renner
Paul Bettany
Elizabeth Olson
Anthony Mackie
Samuel L. Jackson

I don't think we've used any of these before and all have at least 10 eligible titles:

Actor - Lionel Atwill, Linda Blair, Gunnar Hansen, Michael Rooker

Director - Darren Lynn Bousman

Producer - Mark Burg

For Writers consider (not sure who has been used when):
Eduardo Sanchez (Blair Witch 1-2, Lovely Molly, 7th Moon, Exists) - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0844896/
Simon Barrett (You're Next, Dead Birds, Red Sands, Frankenfish, etc) = http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1440023/
David Cronenberg (33 writing credits per IMDB) -http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000343/
Clive Barker - (31 writing credits) - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000850/

I second removing 'From a Face Off Judge,' the reference seems too dated/obscure now.

I think it's a unique checklist item with plenty of choices. And how is it dated? We're in a new season for the show, not to mention it won the 2015 critic's choice award for best reality competition show. I enjoy watching it. My wife does SFX horror/fantasy makeup, so my opinion may be biased.

I'm not very familiar with the Face Off show so perhaps my point about irrelevance was biased. Whatever works - the Face Off item does offer a lot of variety but seemed 'weird' to me in referencing a specific show that many might not be familiar with.

Probably that should read Something Weird Video and just didn't get updated in the first draft.

The other way around: Chad left the "R.I.P. Mike Vraney" part from last year (when it was SWV).

EDIT: Doesn't matter. Chad fixed it already.

Same here. I guess any version counts though. Maybe?

Not necessarily in need of an immediate change but this checklist item always seemed weird because anyone watching 100 movies per month would seem to automatically cover some DVDs, some streaming, and some blu-rays. Maybe since we have expanding so much of the overall list that segment should be deleted or condensed down to something like "Watch a film on VHS, laser disc, or beta [optional]" and/or "watch any film in a movie theater" (or to be more general, someplace other than a home).

I understand any version counts; Happiness of the Katakuris is a subset film that counts for the Arrow checklist item if you're participating in subsets.

I've watched about 2/3 of the subset picks during previous OHMCs, and I'm not planning on doing many re-watches this year, so I'm not participating in the subsets. However, that's a film I haven't seen that I've heard enough about to be interested in, so I'll try to watch it this year (thanks for mentioning it).

I don't know, seems like a lot of people in the past have been DVD only, or streaming only. One could easily hit multiple hundred with just one format.

But I remember once trying to hit 30 different formats/channels in the month.

List is updated. This year I'm only combining names that don't have enough in their filmography for a single entry, which probably makes more sense.

And need more feedback on the fate of the Face Off entry and the new Avengers idea.

Yes, as long as it's on the list it doesn't matter what company.

Like Avengers and Face/Off is big on the convention circuit. Might as well leave it in as a way to get more introduced to makeup and that side of things.
